Let's talk about why differentiation is so hard. First off, the prep. You've got to prep for a lot of different types of students. If students are working on all these different skills, that means you need materials for all of those different skills. Then the logistics— where are these small groups happening? What are other students doing during these small groups? Where are the materials? Then implementation— you actually have to teach these different small groups. So there are 3 different layers to differentiation that make this hard. If you are struggling in this process, this is why.
