Sasha from theautismhelper.com shows the Yes and No File Folder kit, which has 15 cards in five versions each to teach yes/no responses without rote memorization. Start with questions kids already know the answer to, then match words or place Velcro stars under yes or no. Cards can be laminated, used as task cards, or kept in folders.

Hi, this is Sasha from theautismhelper.com, and this is a product preview of my Yes and No File Folder activities. So there are 15 different file folders included and 5 versions of each, so you'll have a lot of variety, which is really key, especially when you're using a pre-made material like this, because you want to ensure that your kids aren't just memorizing the answers. So having 15 different ones will allow you a variety to make sure that the skill is really working in. So when I work on beginning to teach yes and no questions, I don't start with, "Do you want this?" because I don't know the answer. I can guess that they want the iPad, but I can't assume that. So by working on it in a concrete way with vocabulary they already know, you know the answer so you can provide appropriate error correction. So the first 5 follow this format. There are different cards that have a question: is this a dog, is this a flower, is this a backpack, etc. And students will put it under yes or no. So you will put these into file folders, laminate them, and students will sort the questions by yes or no. So there's 5 different variations of these. Again, if you didn't want to put it in a file folder, you could just make it a sorting activity and laminate these pages and sort them on there. That would be kind of fun to do as well. So 5 different versions of these. Also, this is really good for building vocabulary. There's a ton of great vocabulary included in these. The next set is matching the answer yes or no. So these are the pages that will go in the file folder, and the student will put that word yes or no after each question. So 5 different versions of these ones, and all of them of course come with the labels for the file folder and the baggie. And then the last set, students will star yes or no for each question. So there's 12 different questions included, and students will put the star yes under yes or no for each one. Um, and so the Velcro dot will go right under the word, so you won't cover the word up, and you'll match the star on each one. These could also be turned into little task cards as well as another kind of setup option. So 5 different versions of these ones. So this was the Yes and No File Folders from theautismhelper.com.
