A teacher shares a simple data sheet for tracking mastery goals. Record ten trials with plus or minus signs, count the pluses, and you instantly know if students hit 80% or 90% without doing math in your head.

If you have a goal with a percentage mastery criteria, like, look, you're looking at for 80% mastery, 90% mastery, this is my all-time favorite data sheet. I highly recommend you only take data on 10 trials because then it's really easy to figure out that percentage. So put in the date you are working on the skill, and then what I like about this too is I just add a plus or minus every time we work on the skill after every trial, and and then when I'm out of space, I know I'm done. I don't have to really keep track of that while I'm teaching. And then at the end, I can go in and see how many I have correct, and then it's really easy to figure out that percentage. So if you have that percentage mastery criteria, take data on 10 trials always, and this data sheet makes it super simple.
