Arthur recites a playful song about his wishes for impossibly huge tools and vehicles: a ladder to climb, a digger to plant an oak tree, a concrete mixer, an ice-cream van, a crane, and a tractor with enormous wheels. Each wish follows the same pattern, delivered with simple rhymes and repetition for a young audience.

Mm-hmm. Hello, this is Arthur's Song. I wish I had a ladder as long as it could be. I would climb up to the top and see what I could see. I wish I had a digger as big as it could be. I would dig a deep, deep hole and plant a new oak tree. I wish I had a mixer That turned round and round. I would mix some concrete and pour it on the ground. I wish I had an ice cream van as white as it could be. Every day it would serve nice ice cream for me. I wish I had a yellow crane as long as it could be. It could lift a great big stone and drop it in the sea. I wish I had a tractor with 4 enormous wheels.
