Parallel Thinking Methods for Better Meetings and Decisions

Paul Sloane introduces two parallel-thinking techniques: De Bono's Six Thinking Hats and the Disney Method. Both help meetings move faster and balance critical thinking with creative ideas by having everyone think in the same direction at once, rather than arguing across different angles.

Many people at work are frustrated with business meetings. They find them ineffective, long, rambling. People get into arguments, long discussions. There's no effective way of making decisions. And this is a common problem across organizations large and small. Well, in this course, I'm going to teach 2 methods which overcome those problems, and they're both parallel thinking methods. The first is de Bono's 6 Thinking Hats. And this has been used in jury rooms, boardrooms, committee rooms, meetings of all sizes, and it is really effective in speeding up meetings and helping you reach really good decisions much more quickly, much more balanced decisions. The second method is the Disney Method, and that also uses parallel thinking, but that's much more of a creativity technique to come up with ideas, really creative ideas, and refine and develop them. Both of these techniques are fairly easy to learn. They're very powerful. They have to be really well facilitated, but if they're well facilitated, they are highly effective, and they're in use in all sorts of different places. My name is Paul Sloane. I'm an author, a speaker, a consultant. I help organizations all over the world with ideas masterclasses and with facilitation of meetings, and I've used these techniques in Asia, in Europe, in America, and they work really well with all sorts of different cultures and groups. So if you're a manager, a team leader, a business professional, anyone who runs a meeting at work, or maybe at the church or a social club, any other environment where you need a meeting which is really effective, these tools are essential. They will help you run better meetings, be a better leader, a better facilitator, and they will help you in your career. I would strongly encourage you to enrol in this course right now.
