(published 2023-09-26) featuring a single presenter (labeled SPEAKER A) who walks through using ChatGPT to extract suitable job titles from a sample CV. The speaker explains that ChatGPT cannot find current vacancies but can suggest role and position titles (including unexpected options) to broaden an applicant's search, and demonstrates by pasting a fictitious CV for "John Doe" (experience in healthcare, pharma, retail, finance) and requesting multiple job-title suggestions.

Can ChatGPT help you with your applications for jobs? Well, it cannot identify current vacancies, current openings and positions. It's not absolutely up to date. It doesn't have that. So you should use LinkedIn, the recruitment agencies, the jobs boards to look for openings, and you should have feeds which alert you when jobs which suit your particular interests come up. But what ChatGPT can do very effectively is help you identify job titles, position titles, which you could apply for. And sometimes these are ones you hadn't previously thought of, and that is very helpful. So, let's see how that works. We start with our CV. This is the one I prepared earlier. It does not have my real name. It does not have factual, accurate details in, in terms of the name or the names of the companies. But it does— the rest of it is a reasonable CV which I have constructed. And what we do is we take this CV of John Doe, Project Manager and Communications Leader, and he's worked in healthcare, retail, pharma, and finance. And we copy that to the clipboard, Ctrl+C. We put it into the clipboard, and now we go to ChatGPT. And because I'm registered, I can go straight in and start a new chat. And what I can say is, I am a project manager and communications leader with experience in Healthcare, pharmaceutical, finance, and retail sectors. My CV is attached. What positions or job titles could I apply for? And then we add the CV and we post that on ChatGPT and see what it comes up with. So it says here, with experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, fast food, my CV, what positions or jobs? Here it is. Here's my CV. So that just repeats what I put in. And now what's it come up with? Senior Project Manager, Program Manager, Communications Director, Healthcare Project Manager, Pharmaceutical Project Lead, Finance Project Coordinator, Retail Operations Manager, Consultant in Project Management. So it's given me some Things I could consider, but I'm greedy. I could say, please give me 5 more job titles I could apply for. It's given me 8. I'm being greedy. I'm asking for another 5. Digital project manager. Corporate communications manager. E-commerce project coordinator. Brand project lead. I've never even considered that. Change management specialist. Wow. So these are all things which I could explore now. I've got 13. In fact, the original 8, and these are some of these are ones I'm already applying for. Senior project manager, program manager, communications director. But not healthcare project manager. Project lead, finance coordinator, project retail operations manager, consultant in project. And then these are quite new. E-commerce project coordinator, brand project lead, change management specialist. These are all opportunities for me to explore job vacancies which normally I would miss. I wouldn't even consider them. But ChatGPT has indicated an opportunity for me there. And it broadens the total pool of applications that I can make, so that's very helpful.
