Peter Lohmann and a property-management software pioneer compare today's AI boom to past tech shifts. Each wave felt equally overwhelming and game-changing: paper to computers, computers to the web, now AI. The pattern repeats because transformative tools always accelerate what's possible in an industry.
It feels now like things are changing really fast with AI and all the other technologies. Did it feel the same back then as technology marched from paper ledgers to computers to online? Like, was this feeling of, wow, things are changing so fast I can't keep up, or was it— did it feel slower?
It actually felt the same to me. I mean, I was there for the creation of the first web-based systems for property management, and it was equally, I think, game-changing. I'm enjoying the fact that AI is accelerating some of the effort the efforts that are needed today for our industry to achieve its goals. Similarly to, you know, what I saw, the possibilities I saw created back then from the internet, I do think it's very similar.
