An Atlanta law firm recruited disabled plaintiffs to file frivolous ADA website lawsuits against businesses. A judge sanctioned the firm and barred one lawyer from his courtroom. Lohmann's friends settled for tens of thousands of dollars.
How about these drive-by ADA website lawsuits? Is that still going on?
I thankfully have not seen those as much, but yeah, they were super annoying. And the ones about your website and all that stuff, I have not seen as much of those. We actually had a really notorious law firm here in Georgia, here in Atlanta, actually, that was bringing those. And they wouldn't even— like, they were the ones doing it on their own, you know, and then they would find disabled plaintiff. And the court— go to this website. Yeah, yeah, right, exactly. And the court literally like sanctioned them. And one court actually told the lawyer that he couldn't even ever appear in front of him again. Like, he was like banished from the courtroom.
I would love to read an article about this because I remember when this was really going on, everyone was talking about it, and I had friends who were getting hit with these suits and having to settle for tens of thousands of dollars. It was horrible. And I was like, terrible. There's no justice in this world anymore. I was getting so worked up. So I would love to read or see something about, you know, what you just said about them getting shut down.
