A leader who does everything themselves sends a message that there's nothing left for anyone else to do, which kills interest in the role. The best chapters have strong teams doing their own work, not one person handling everything and taking all the blame.
Chapters
What are the behaviors or attributes of some of the best leaders that they've had in common? Well, that's hard because on the national level, it's different than on the local. I shared with one president one time, I said, if you keep doing everything yourself, then no one's going to want to be president because they're going to look and say, why do I want to come into this position? And their hardest thing is delegating, is finding people and finding strength to be able to delegate to. And that's what we see on the chapter level. We really do see that. On the national level, it's letting us do our job so that we can keep the organization. As you know, I took a lot of heat for, for a while. And I took some blame for things that I had no control over. And that happens. If you don't let the management team do their job, then that's going to happen. Same thing on the chapter level. If you don't find good people to help you, you cannot do it all yourself. And if you look at the strong chapters, again, they have strong teams that are running them.
