Peter Lohmann on LeaseLock's approach to renter protection. The company limits coverage intentionally to keep prices low, requires the service on most leases to prevent abuse, and targets well-managed properties where landlords don't need the product to hide bad practices.

baked into the DNA of LeaseLock is this idea that like, hey, renters aren't an asset to be exploited. They're actually kind of our North Star. We want their experience to be great. How does that show up in the product design and the pricing and, and how you work with the property owners?
Yeah, I mean, we've essentially established governors on the product to, to protect renters from our product being used to, you know, take advantage of them. So like we require the product to be used on a majority of leases. So that we can maintain the best possible price. We also don't provide too much coverage because that makes the price go up and sometimes it could be used to mask operational deficiencies. And that's not what we exist for. We exist to accomplish what deposits were intended to do, but have failed to do. As long as you know, you're a good operator and you're managing your property well, you're going to be a great client for us.
