Best CRM for Home Service Businesses in 2027

In this solo video, Phil Risher—who has implemented Jobber, Housecall Pro, and ServiceTitan in multiple 7‑ and 8‑figure home‑service companies since 2018—conducts a head‑to‑head, seven‑round comparison of the three platforms. He evaluates each CRM on usability, automation, cost & support, reporting, pipeline visibility, online scheduling (including AI‑driven search), and AI capabilities. For each round he assigns scores, explains strengths and weaknesses, and shares practical implementation tips such as running the old and new systems in parallel for 30 days during migration. He highlights Jobber’s rapid 14‑day onboarding, broad trade coverage, and new “Teammate” autonomous AI agent; Housecall Pro’s strong automation and decent scheduling; and ServiceTitan’s superior reporting but steep onboarding time, high cost, and limited pipeline visibility. Phil concludes that for home‑service businesses with $0‑$10 M revenue, especially $1‑$10 M, Jobber offers the best balance of versatility, AI features, and price, while ServiceTitan is suited for large enterprises ($10 M+). He provides a 14‑day free‑trial link for Jobber and encourages viewers to like, subscribe, and reach out for marketing assistance.

I've worked inside of Jobber, Housecall Pro, and ServiceTitan since 2018. I've personally implemented these CRMs in 7 and 8-figure home service businesses, and now my team uses them from a marketing perspective to help these businesses grow. In this video, I'm putting all 3 platforms head-to-head in a 7-round battle it out to see which one's the best. We're going to be looking at AI, we're going to be looking at implementation, cost, online scheduling, and a bunch of other features. And the goal is to show you where the CRMs are strongest, where they fall short, and which one I personally choose if I was in a home service business. And you'll be able to make the decision of which CRM is the best to help your home service business grow in 2027. All right, round 1, we're talking about usability, and we're going to start with Jobber. Jobber makes it very easy to get started. I would say you can get up and running in 14 days. You have the desktop thing for your CSR, you have your technician app, and you can schedule jobs and things happen. And the other thing that Jobber does is they pretty much built this platform for any home service. It doesn't matter if you're HVAC, plumbing, electrical. You could be gutter cleaning, maid service, landscaping, windows and doors, roofers, whatever. It's basically a home service app. Like, heck, there's people on there that do poop scooping, you know? So they, they make it so that it's very easy to get up and running and you can customize it down the line, but it's very easy to get started with Jobber. Now we look at Housecall Pro. I would say this is more of a standard home service CRM where it's HVAC, plumbing, electrical is like what it's built for. And then there's workarounds for other, you know, trade service businesses, but it's pretty much built for those platforms. I would say this takes a good 30 to 60 days if you're not in those niches to get this up and running. And then when I think about ServiceTitan, what I could say is like, I personally implemented ServiceTitan at home service businesses and it took us a good 6 to 12 months because it's such a behemoth of an operating system inside of your business. I wouldn't even think of this as just a CRM. It's like a full-on operating system. And what I do know, like some of our clients, They switch to ServiceTitan and 6 to 12 months later they end up getting a ServiceTitan contractor that they hire as like a fractional CTO to come in and overhaul everything and get it cleaned up because it's that big of a shift. So it's not something that you would set up in 30 days for sure. You would go through a whole sales process, a full-on onboarding, and then 6 to 12 months later you may be up and running with the CRM, but a good 12 months to 24 months is what it's going to take. So if I was looking at this, I would say Jobber 10 out of 10 is like, Easiest to get up and running and then ultimately customize from there. Housecall Pro, I would give it 7 out of 10. You can get it up and running, but it's kind of a cookie cutter thing for certain trades and it's workarounds. And then ServiceTitan by far is going to be the hardest one to get up and running. And it is cookie cutter for certain trades. Like they will turn you away if you're not in the right trades. But that's how I would do this. Now, if you are thinking about switching, just a pro tip from— I've done this many times with home service businesses. When I used to do this a lot when I first started consulting. What I, what I know is that if you're going to switch, you should use your old platform for 30 days in conjunction with your new CRM for 30 days. And the beauty of this is that your team can do the old process and practice the new process happening and transition everything over, over those next 30 days. It gives you a source of truth of how you know how to do things. What I would hesitate is like download everything out, upload everything in, and then just start from scratch over this. I would give it 30 days and then an ultimate switchover and then You know, let this one die. That's my 2 cents. All right, round 2, we're talking about automation. Now automation is when something happens in your business, something else happens on top of it. So you send out an estimate and then a text message and an email goes out the next day to follow up. An invoice happens and then 30 days happen and they don't pay it, an automation happens on top of it. And if I were to break this down, it's very simple. Housecall Pro is the best for automations from what I've seen. And the reason is, is because you can customize all your automations inside of Housecall Pro and it's pretty easy. Like the snapshot here, you can tie them to your pipeline. You can build automations on different things. They make it very simple to create automations. I think Jobber realizes that and they are building automations and trying to get there with their automation stack. It's not that they don't have it. It's just not as robust as Housecall Pro and integrated into what Housecall Pro has. And then finally, I'll say ServiceTitan is the worst at automations. Pretty surprising that it takes 12 months to set up and you don't get automations as well. But what I'll say about ServiceTitan is that there's an add-on Marketing Pro feature where you can build automations inside of your business. based off certain things, and it is pretty robust, but it costs a bunch more money and it's a whole bunch more to set up. So the simplest automation tool I will say is going to be Housecall Pro inside of their CRM. All right, cost and support. When we think about how much does it cost to use this CRM every single month inside of your business, I'm going to break them down here, and then I'm actually going to go to their websites and look at their pricing pages and show you what that means. So the first thing I'm going to talk about is Jobber. Jobber is $599 total. Let me pull up their pricing page here. So when we look at Jobber, you can see I put 6 to 10 people billing monthly with no commitment. So like the worst case scenarios, and then 6 to 10 people for including 10 users is $599 a month. So I would say that Jobber, pretty straightforward. You kind of pay for the thing, you get the thing and it, and it works. Now with Housecall Pro, their max tier is $649 plus. And the reason that they give you a plus is because they give you 8 users and then you got to pay more for the seats. And they have other add-on things as well. What I saw with theirs is they have the essentials and they have this max 8 users. And you know, you get some things on here and then you might, you know, add on a couple of things, a couple of users. So I would say it's definitely more expensive than what Jobber would have. And then finally, ServiceTitan. So ServiceTitan is a— they're on NASDAQ, right? They were valued at $4 billion a couple of years ago. They charge by technician and they have all these add-on things. You know, when I was doing this, you know, with CRMs and stuff, it was $279 per technician. And I'm sure that it's way more now based off of what I know. You know, they went public in the stock exchange. They also have all these add-ons of like $2,000, $3,000. They don't even show their pricing on their website. They just say request pricing because it's, you know, it is that custom of a build of like what exactly do you want to do now versus later? But it also is pretty expensive when you think about the grand scheme of things. So I'm going to give this to Jobber. It's less than Housecall Pro. You get the out-of-the-box stuff, you can get up and running with it, and it's the least expensive. Housecall Pro, you know, whatever, $50 difference. If you like that, cool. And then ServiceSight is definitely going to be the most expensive thing as well. All right, round 4, we're talking about reporting. Now reporting for me at my home service business was the number one thing that I needed to grow from $3 million to $5 million. It was the thing that I was director of business development and I cared about the numbers, right? The office manager, she may have cared about them, but like me, I'm a numbers guy. I wanted to know the numbers. I wanted to know what our booking rate was, what our close rate is, what our average ticket is, what our customer acquisition cost is. And I would love to know that by technician and by CSR. So hands down, ServiceTitan takes the cake on reporting. They've been the OG of reporting. 4 years ago, they had this clean reporting. They still have custom reporting that you can build and schedule and do nice reports with. There's a reason why private equity companies use ServiceTitan. There's a reason why $100 million home service businesses use ServiceTitan, and it's because the reporting is that great. And I, so I got to give them 10 out of 10. Now what I will say is that about a year and a half ago, 2 years ago, Jobber and Housecall Pro realized that, okay, wait, if we have these very sophisticated business owners that are $5 million home service businesses, then we need to have very sophisticated reporting of the numbers that I just explained to you that are going to actually help you grow. Your booking rate, your close rate, your average ticket, and your customer acquisition cost, and then more. So Jobber, about a year and a half ago, started rolling out new reporting like lead source reports and other things where you can track marketing and other reporting. And Housecall Pro as well has reporting as well and some custom reporting. Jobber a couple months ago rolled out custom reports. You can build custom reports. You can, you know, see the close rate by technician and some other data. So they are getting there. ServiceTitan by far has The number one reporting platform in my opinion as well. That's why I'll give them a nod on this. Now, real quick, reporting is so important because if you have a marketing company and you are trying to grow your business, good data makes good decisions. This is exactly what I built my consulting company on. We work with home service businesses. We use their CRM. We use their data inside of their CRM to make decisions. We build automations and tech stack for them using these platforms. And then ultimately help them grow. And the way we know that they grow is because we know their return on ad spend. We know how many leads, jobs, estimates, average ticket, all the stuff that you would want. If that's something that interests you and you would love a marketing partner that knew all this data and could help you grow your business, I'll put a link down below. I'd love the opportunity to talk with you and see if we might be able to help you grow your business. All right, round 5, we're talking about pipelines. Now, this might be shocking to you, but pipelines inside of CRMs were not a thing as of like 2 or 3 years ago. They were just in things happening inside of a CRM, but no one knew what stage everything was at on a nice looking pipeline. And so there's one of these CRMs that does a really bad job at this, and I'm going to show you the different pipelines and also give you the grades. So pipeline, this is Jobber's. You can see here, and if you can't see, it's basically different stages. So like a request, a quote, a job, an invoice, and it moves through the different pipelines. Now the thing that I like about Jobber is that When a quote gets signed, a job can get created and then moved to the pipeline. And then everything that was on that quote gets put on that job. So when we think about the pipeline happening and then the next steps automatically populating based off what happened before, Jobber has that, which is why I like their pipeline a lot. And it's also easy to see, like you come into work, you go to the pipeline and you say, okay, what estimates need to be followed up with today? Move them to the next stage. What estimates closed? What are we waiting on materials for? You know, it gives you a very clean project management snapshot of your CRM. It's very nice once they built this. Housecall Pro is very similar. I'll say that Housecall Pro, their thing is that they have more custom automations you can build on top of the pipeline than Jobber. But Jobber, like out-of-the-box pipeline is pretty clean and it allows you to just do stuff and move things through. Now, ServiceTitan surprisingly does not have a good pipeline. They have very, very little pipeline visibility unless you pay for more features inside of their platform. to try to get some type of pipeline like what I just showed you. I know it's surprising, like imagine a $100 million home service business that can't see where things are at in certain stages unless you just pull custom reports and stuff. It's wild to me, but they do not have a good pipeline process at all. So if I was going to put numbers to this, Jobber 9 out of 10, Housecall Pro 8 out of 10 right there, ServiceTitan 4 out of 10 because it's pretty much nonexistent inside of their platform. All right, round 6, we're talking about online scheduling. And when we think about marketing and growing home service businesses, which is what we do, AI search is really, really hot right now. Everyone is shifting to AI platforms to search, whether that's Gemini, ChatGPT, Housecall Pro. And if they're not choosing to, they're getting herded over there by Google changing things on AI mode to now go and do AI search. What does that mean is that people are not going to websites anymore, and online scheduling is even more important because these agents are going to be scheduling online for people inside of Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan. So all 3 of these platforms have online scheduling. Great. Jobber, I would say, is a 9 out of 10. It's pretty easy, you can get it set up. Housecall Pro, pretty easy, you can get it set up. ServiceTitan, pretty easy, you can get it set up. However, ServiceTitan charges more money. A couple years ago, they bought a company called Schedule Engine, and because they bought that company, they then started charging for their Scheduling Pro, which is an online booking tool, and it's cool, but again, it costs more. So I dock them a point on that. But all these platforms have online scheduling. Round 7, and I think this is a really big shift from what I've seen with these CRMs, is AI. Now, one way that these platforms use AI is AI answering service. They all 3 have a call answering receptionist that you can call. It talks to you with AI, and then it can book an appointment on your calendar, which is great. They should have that. It's a nice tool. You might say one AI is better than the other, better than the other. Cool. But they all have the capability. They also all have like a little, you know, ask button in there where you can ask it questions based off of your CRM data and figure out what's going on in your CRM using AI, which I think is cool. However, Jobber just rolled out this new tool called Teammate, and Teammate is essentially an agent that lives inside of your CRM that can do things autonomously based off of what it knows about your business. This is not like a chatbot, like what I mentioned, like an agent chat, an AI chat or something. This is like an agent that does things on your behalf. So for example, let's say someone had a question on an estimate that they sent back or they filled out a request or something like that. The agent could then go and create the quote and then have it ready for you to send to them and have it all done so that way you don't have to do it. Or let's say, you know, some materials were late and this stage, it was only supposed to be there for 5 days or something. The agent could then populate and let you know, hey, this is past due. You should reach out to the customer. Here's an email you can send to them. Do you want me to do that for you? It will start doing things for you based off of your business, which is really cool because every business has their own custom agent teammate inside of their business doing things alongside their CSR, office manager, office staff, whatever. It's awesome. I think it's really cool. ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro do not have that capability. I think teammate literally just came out last week, so I think that they're going to see this and be like, oh my gosh, we need to do something like this. But it's a really cool AI tool that these platforms don't have. So if I was going to roll this up The winner after 7 rounds, we got ServiceTitan last place, Housecall Pro, and then Jobber. The reason that Jobber wins, in my opinion, is because it's the most versatile. So if I owned a home service business and I was looking for a CRM that was AI capable, was also easy to plug and play, and had this pipeline and automations, I think Jobber would be my choice. So, and the reason is like, if I was $0 to $10 million home service business, it doesn't really matter, right? It doesn't matter. What industry that I was in, I can plug in Jobber and I have these cool AI tools and a forward-thinking company that's building cool stuff. Housecall Pro, I'm not saying that it's bad, right? Even in that stack ranking, it was only a couple points off. But when you think about like a $500,000 business to like $3 million business, that's like a basic home service CRM. I think that it's good. I think there's good things like I mentioned about the automations, but like it's more expensive. Some of the other features and tools are not quite there with Jobber. It also is more cookie cutter vanilla, in my opinion, for specific trades. Not, you know, any home service business can plug this in and then build on top of it. And then when I think about ServiceTitan, there's definitely a place for ServiceTitan in home service. I mean, there wouldn't be $100 million home service businesses that use this if it wasn't good. I think ServiceTitan is great. I think that if you're HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofer, it's, you know, built for you for like a $10 million, $20 million enterprise. large home service business conglomerate, for sure. If you have a dedicated CTO to run point on these things and you're $5 million, like, yeah, of course you could do it. If I was going to look at what's the best platform to use going into 2027, the AI capabilities, and I was a $1 million to $10 million home service business, I would go with Jobber for sure. And because I made this video and I'm like, hey, I'm going to recommend Jobber, I actually reached out to them and I said, since I'm going to recommend you, could I get a link or something that my people could try it out? So they gave me a link for a 14-day free trial. I'll put it down below. You can try it out, you can see some of these features, you can try the teammate thing, the AI search. I think it's really cool. At least gives you an opportunity to try some of these technologies going into 2027. All right, well, thanks for hanging out with me.
