I'm your host, Dr. Peter Kim, and today I'm excited to share my top three takeaways from our most recent conference that was called PIMDCON 2023. We focused on real estate and entrepreneurship. It was so much fun, it was amazing and I have to share a bunch of things that I learned from being there. Even if you weren't there, I think this will be relevant for you as well and I hope you enjoy. So stay tuned.

Okay, we just got back from our fifth annual PIMDCON. This is PIMDCON 2023. We've had three live and two virtual, obviously because the pandemic. But let me tell you, this was an amazing event for us as a team, as a community. I think we experienced something really amazing and extraordinary. We brought together our community from all over the United states. We had 44 states run represented. I don't know what those six states are right now off the top of my head, but we're going to come looking for you if you belong to one of those six states. But it's really cool to get people together in a room. There's always magic that happens that we can't predict. That happens when people, like minded people, ambitious individuals, get together in a room and start sharing opportunities, experiences and are there just to serve one another. This year's conference was a little bit different because we made it not only real estate investing, but also we focused on entrepreneurship. A lot of these things come together. There's a lot of crossover, especially when it comes comes to mindset, taking action, thinking about things, financially, learning how to do all of that. So we thought it'd be fun to get everybody in a room and see what happened. And it was really cool to see. It was a melting pot of inspiration, different aspirations. There was a ton of energy in the air. In fact, we had over twice the amount of people that we had at last year's conference. And that amount of growth was just really cool to see. We had over 30 speakers on different topics ranging from everything from taxes, asset protection, which may not sound exciting, but they found ways to make it exciting. We talked about our experiences, ways to think about this current economy and market, how to take advantage of those different strategies that you can use and employ to be smarter and take advantage of this what we call the zone of maximal financial opportunity where everyone else is starting to get a little bit fearful, maybe even a little angry, worried. But that's an opportunity for our community who comes in there with the right mindset, ready to take action, having educated ourselves and ready to go and make.
The most of this.
I don't know if you can tell I'm coming off a bit of a high. My wife tells me that when I'm around people, I get energy, I get energized. I don't know. Everyone's not necessarily like that. There are some people like more like my wife who, you know, enjoy being around people. But after a while it's a little bit much. I'm not that way. I like to be out among people and I want them to feel the energy. And I get so excited when I see light bulbs going off, when I see collaboration. And we talk a little bit about that today. So I thought I'd share three top takeaways from this event. They're kind of off the top of my head. Things that I was inspired by, things that I learned, things that I think you should know about that will ultimately help all of us get closer to where we want to be. So let's get started with takeaway number one. There are a ton of diverse backgrounds and aspirations when it comes to our community. There were people from all stages in life. There were people that were actually just finishing their residency all the way up to people who are just about to retire. It was amazing to see that range. And we had people who are experts in real estate. I would consider experts. They have hundred plus units under their belt to people who are just starting. They had just gotten onto this concept of financial freedom, of creating multiple streams of income. Weren't sure where to get started. We had those people come together too, all in one room. There are people who had planned to come to BIMDCON from the moment we announced it. They had put it on their schedules and they've been heavily anticipating the event. Then we had people who signed up last minute. There was even a doctor who was walking through the lobby of the hotel. He was here for a different medical conference and he saw all the information, saw what he wanted, saw that he was interested in it and he signed up and stayed a couple of days in Los Angeles just to attend our event. And everyone was able to take something from this. So it opened up the possibilities for me for who can come to this event, what can they get out of it we have people who had participated last year, virtual, and if you're one of those people this year, thanks for being a part of it. I hope you got a ton out of it. But they really wanted to be in the room. And so this year they showed up and they said it was an awesome experience to actually talk to people in real life. There's something, again, amazing that happens when you get in the same room. So I just walked away completely impressed by the people that were there. Every single person that I talked to had a story. It was relatively unique. They come from similar backgrounds, but there was something special about their story that helped them get where they're at today. And they all had different aspirations for where they wanted to be. I think there's a common theme. We all want control of our lives. We want control of our time, we want that freedom. But our whys weren't necessarily the same. Some people said it was to help their parents out. Some people said it was for their children, some people for their pets. Some people had global aspirations in terms of contribution. And it made me think, if anybody comes to me and says, is this conference right for me? I know I have a hard time telling people it wouldn't be for them. There are people that are going to be there like them, and at any stage of the game, those people can come and get something out of it. So I was so impressed by that. Hey, everyone.

Takeaway number two. Doctors are awesome connectors. You're great at building connections. We do it all day with our patients in short periods of time. But what happens when you get other doctors? With other doctors, there's this instant bond. I think that when you go to some other conferences and there are, first of all, there are doctors in a specialty field like you, everyone kind of has to put on an air of knowing a lot, knowing more than the other person. There's also some element of, like, competitiveness there. I don't know if you ever feel that or I have to be show, you know, I have to feel like I'm smart and show people out there that I am. At this conference, all of that seemed to be dropped, meaning that people could come as they are now. They have a common background of being doctors and physicians. You don't need to explain a lot. You don't have to tell people what it's like to be on call away from your family. You don't need to tell people how difficult it is with student loans and the financial burdens of being a physician today. You don't have to explain to certain people why you already make good incomes, but you have to go somewhere else to learn about creating more income. It doesn't make sense to a lot of people, but there we were able to drop all that. It was okay to not know very much, to put it out there, to be vulnerable, to let people know because people stepped up to help other people out and to keep them accountable. I remember talking to a doctor at the bottom of the elevators. We had just come down together to hit one of the happy hours. And she said, normally I go to these conferences. I just go straight up to my room after the talks and I sit there. But I forced myself this time to come back down because I'm here to make connections. I'm here to learn. I'm here to get supported. And I talked to her later, how was it for you? And she said, it was amazing to be in that type of community where you could share and be vulnerable. And she said, people are really nice here. I don't know if you were part of the conference and you felt like that people were really, really nice. It's a supportive, collaborative community. There's no competitiveness and there's no reason to not just be there to support one another. Also, I know that people were able to meet some of the sponsors and resources. There are a lot of sponsors out there, I'll be honest, right now, that are hiding with everything happening in the economy. But these people came out to share what they're doing, to express how they're getting through this particular period in the economy. And it was really cool to see people talk to them, grill them, get information, educate themselves in a very, very supportive environment. And one of the coolest things we did is we had small group sessions almost every day they call mastermind sessions where five or six people get together, share their experiences. And many people said that was the best part of the whole thing. I don't know if you were there, you felt like it, but you made connections. People walked out of this event with friends, with network, with accountability partners. So many cool relationships were born and that's why we do this. And people ask me what PIMD is all about and yes, it's about real estate, it's about entrepreneurship, it's about education. But at the core, what we're about is creating communities. Because I know lots of us, that's what we need. We need help, we need connection, we need to share resources, we need to vet deals together, we need to get smarter together. And the only way that happens is by creating communities around people with just similar interests and actually aspirations in life. And lastly, the big takeaway is that when you challenge people to take action, they will take action. We talked about this concept of knowledge is, and many people say power. What I've learned through a lot of different mindset work, especially people like Tony Robbins. Knowledge is only potential power. Knowledge without action doesn't mean anything. Action is where the true power is, being that, you know, it's like potential energy. You have potential energy, but without kind of taking action and doing things, that energy is not released. So we challenge people to take action, to write down what their action steps were.

I talked to a lot of people during the event. I talked to somebody who said they were re energized to start their startup back up. I talked to someone who said they had called their wife from the conference and said they're going to go ahead and find that property before the end of the year. And one of the coolest stories I heard was that somebody came to me during the final party and said that their offer had been accepted. I said when you put in the offer, she said on the first day of the conference she put it decided to put in an offer. When we challenged people to take action and by the end of the conference they were in escrow for their very first property. I thought that was so cool and amazing. Again, it's not something that you expect, but just really cool. To see what happens. Many people signed up for a passive real estate academy. They had an opportunity to do that. Many people decided to take that course because they wanted to get into a deal by the end of the year. They understood that a first deal leads to a second deal, a third deal, and that eventually it would get to the point place where it would snowball and give them the income where we could, they could decide what to do with their time and their life. By the way, if that's you, I just want to let you know our Passive Real Estate Academy, our fall course is beginning now. We only do this once or twice a year. A cohort is open for people to join Passive Real Estate Academy and be part of our community learning how to vet deals together and utilize passive real estate like syndications to get where you want to be. So that's my little pitch for it if you're interested. This is the time to join that community. It's going to be fun. We'll be in it together in four weeks. You'll Learn how to confidently invest in these deals and and have a community around you of people to support you. So you can tell I'm excited from this conference. Sometimes it's hard to come back from these things and have a transition point, but there's so many cool things that happen. And so I got energized to continue to build this community. We're going to have more meetups both virtually and in person so that we can share and help each other. We're going to create more educational resources to help exactly you in where you're at today. And we're committed to just having fun while we're doing this. I'm passionate about it. I hope you can tell. I hope you're passionate about it. And when that happens, especially in our community with the ambitious people that we have, really cool things can happen. So I'd like to hear from you. If you were part of this event, what did you get out of it? Let me know. Tell a friend about it because sometimes that is more valuable than telling us. Tell somebody else what you got out of it. If you weren't able to make it this year, we'd love to see you next year. We're probably announcing in the next few months exactly the date and the time and we hope that you can make it in person. And for those of you who are part of our metaverse, our final party, part of the virtual reality. I'm glad anybody nobody got hurt. It was just a fun time. Overall, want to let you know you know you do amazing things on a daily basis. And just a quick word of encouragement, knowing this community, you're amazing at what you do. We want to thank you for that and whatever we can do to continue to support you on this journey. We'd love to help you out. Let us know. We'll see you at the next one. Have an amazing week.
