Hey everyone, it's Peter with Passive Income md. I'm here for another week. Hope you've had a great week. It's been a little strange here in LA with some fires, earthquakes. Feels like we're living in some strange times, but hopefully you've been able to navigate it safely and healthy with your family and good things happening to you. I wanted to let you know about a few good things happening at Passive Income MD coming up for those who got to participate. Last year we had an in person conference called the Financial Freedom through Investing in Real Estate conference in Los Angeles last year. Obviously this year things are different and so we're going to be doing a virtual conference for those who participated in the Leverage and Growth summit that had over 10,000 attendees back in the spring. We're going to have one that's focused solely and exclusively on real estate and that's going to be happening in a few weeks, October 9th, 10th and 11th. It was supposed to be just two days, but we had so much awesome content come our way. So amazing speakers that we couldn't say no to. And so we're going to have it take place over three days so you can't sign up for it quite yet depending on when you're listening to this. But very soon we'll have an announcement that talks about, you know, just signing up and participating in the event. There'll be a lot of different opportunities. Then not only listen to speakers but interact, get to know other people, be part of networking as well as structured question and answer session to really get all the information that you need in a concise organized fashion to help you achieve your goals. So look out for that. Along with that, look out for a private Facebook, like a pop up Facebook group focused all around real estate investing and around that conference. So look out for it and we're excited to have you be a part of it. And now onto our episode welcome to the Passive Income MD podcast where we talk about creating your ideal life through multiple streams of income. I'm your host, Peter Kim. If you enjoy hearing about this stuff, make sure to hit subscribe so I can bring it to you every week. Now let's get on with the show. So let me ask you, when did you know that you wanted to be a doctor or whatever profession you're in? Whenever that happened, whenever that point occurred, you really started to do something called reverse engineer your life, whether you knew it or not. So what does that mean to reverse engineer? It means that you start with a goal in mind. For example, being a Doctor or whatever that might be. And then you figure out what steps it would take for you to get there. Then what you did is you went out with crazy amounts of passion, energy and drive and, and you essentially made it happen. That's what it means to reverse engineer something. And we've all done it. We start with the goal in mind and essentially figuring out how to get there will happen as long as we kind of keep moving in that direction. I don't know when you made that decision for me. I grew up in a medical household and it was. I don't know. I say preordain, but it's something that I thought of very, very early. I had some family members and it's something that I wanted to be my whole life. How about for you? When did you figure that out and when did you start figuring out how to get there? Now, it's funny because once most of us reach what we call the promised land, where we hit that profession, where we hit that peak or whatever that goal is like for many of us that we, we became doctors and then we seem to have forgotten how reverse engineering works. Like, what we do at that point is many of us have just let our jobs really dictate what our lives look like. They're going to tell you you have to work this many weeks out of the year, this many paid vacations, this many sick days, whatever it might be. And your schedule, for the most part, for most of us, is that it's handed to us and we're at the mercy of scheduling and patience and things like that. And all of us feel like we don't have a choice. And that's to really work hard until you're 60 or 65 years old and hopefully you've saved up enough money to retire comfortably or safely. And we all think there, there's no other way. And it's funny because I've talked to a lot of doctors and they've talked about wanting to retire early someday or wishing that their life was going in maybe a little bit of a different direction or a trajectory. And when I asked them, I say, what is your plan to actually make that happen? They don't have a clue. They're just kind of passive, like they're floating on this ride and they really have no way to steer it or move it in the direction that they want. For some reason, I feel like people have forgotten what it means to reverse engineer something, right? And in this case, reverse engineering, the most important thing, which is our lives. The funny thing is we know I Think all of us can all agree that we're not going to reach our goals by chance. It's never been that way in life. Well, some of you might have happened where you just kind of got lucky, but let's be honest, we all kind of, yeah, have, you know, lucky things have happened in our lives, but we all have really allowed those things to happen, right? By hard work, by focus, determination, and then, you know, some level of grace or luck, you know, kind of played a part. But we all needed to do something for that. So I think that the same thing happens with our lives. Like, we gotta know what the goal is, right? What we want. Be crystal clear about that, and then start thinking about how to reverse engineer your life. So I have some suggestions for you. If that's kind of where you want to be. I have some questions for you. And so here is the guide, in my opinion, to figure out how to reverse engineer your life. I think the first part is by figuring out what your goal is, where do you want to be? So I want you to kind of think about it or write it down, whatever you might, depending on how you're listening to this. What do you want your life to be like in 20 to 30 years? I think it's a good place to start. Like, how much time are you spending at the hospital? How much time are you spending with family? What does your career look like? Where are you working? Where are you living? How many vacations do you take? Think about that in 20 to 30 years, what does that look like? Then take it down to 10 years and then five years and think about where your life, you know, should be or where you want it to be in five or 10 years. Now, I always like to get really specific. And for those who are into creating other streams of income, I always tell people, along with that lifestyle, figure out how much you feel you need to support that lifestyle in terms of passive income per month, meaning that, you know, for some people, they say, hey, if I'm going to retire in 20 years, I need $20,000 a month in passive income. Then we start working backwards, right? Then you start work back to 10 years. Like, how much would you need in 10 years then to put yourself on that right goal and trajectory to achieve those goals. All right, so I'm going to tell you that the first thing you need to do is, now that you've thought about it, is write it down. Obviously you're driving in the car or whatever. Take time. When you get to wherever your destination is, write it down in your Phone and your thing. Because once you write it down, it actually becomes reality, right? At least that you know that this is like a real thing that you're shooting for. And then you've got to actually now look where you're at. You've got to figure out whether your current situation or the actions that you're taking is likely to get you to your goals. And you should be totally honest with it. Are you actually doing things? Whether it's taking action, taking courses, making decisions, the way you're spending your time, are all these things moving you in the direction of your goals? And if you are, that's fantastic. I mean, some of you are. And there's no doubt in my mind that you're going to ultimately reach your goals, if not surpass them. But if you're in that other boat where honestly you're like, hey, if I just do what I'm doing, I'm not going to reach my goals, then you have to realize that you need to figure out how to change, right? How to change that direction. What are the steps that you need to take to, like, when you reverse engineer your goals, you know where you want to be, you know where you're at. What are the steps that you need to take to find yourself on that correct path? You know, maybe it's a different job, maybe it's a different position, maybe it's something you need to negotiate. Maybe it's a change in location, maybe it's producing passive income, maybe it's creating that, you know, side hustle, side gig on the side. There are so many different things that you possibly can and should be doing to put yourself there. And it's not like you have to figure it all out at once. I always tell people in the beginning, it helps to just take a step. I mean, I don't know if you've noticed this in your life, but sometimes, you know, one step, you know, lead to second step. And so many big things happen when you look down the line and you look back at it, how everything just started with one single step. And I believe the same happens when you're moving towards your goals, whether it's passive income goals or life goals. Is that just starting to move in a certain direction, kind of breaking free of that inertia, changing that momentum, it leads to great things. And so I'm just gonna challenge you, try to reverse engineer your life. If you are not in the position that you wanna be right now, take a look at where you wanna be, Take a look at where you're at. And figure out what it takes to get there. I mean, I wrote this on my recent newsletter email, but I randomly woke up yesterday or a couple days ago at like 4 or 5am and it's funny because I don't know you ever had the thing where you wake up and like there's a certain thought in your mind. But I had one thought in my mind and it was just make it happen. And it wasn't anything for anything specific. But obviously I have tons of goals that I want to achieve and so I'm going to share that with you today. You know, it doesn't matter what it is, doesn't matter what you're striving for. Just make it happen. Have a great week and get ready to hear some more things about the conference coming up.
