Lord Jagannātha's Appearance Pastime | 21.07.2019 | ISKCON Calgary | Śrīla Gopāla Kṛṣṇa Gosvāmī

In this devotional lecture delivered by Śrīla Gopāla Kṛṣṇa Gosvāmī at the ISKCON Calgary temple, the speaker weaves together the ancient pastimes of Lord Jagannātha (Nil‑Mādhava) with contemporary ISKCON activities. He recounts the legendary search for the Nil‑Mādhava deity, the divine intervention of Vishvakarma, and the establishment of the Jagannātha temple, using the story to illustrate the purpose of festivals such as Rath Yatra. The talk then shifts to a philosophical contrast between material and spiritual knowledge, employing animal analogies from the Bhagavad‑gītā to show the futility of sensory gratification. Emphasis is placed on the practical means to attain spiritual happiness: chanting the Holy Name, regular attendance at Sunday programs, consuming prasāda, and studying the Bhagavad‑gītā and Śrīmad‑Bhāgavatam. The speaker highlights ISKCON’s outreach—book distribution, the Bhagavatam marathon, and the spiritual merit of gifting Bhagavatam sets—encouraging devotees to participate actively. Throughout, the lecture blends scriptural citations, devotional chanting, and concrete calls to action for the assembled audience.

Krishna Krishna. Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. All glory to this Kṛṣṇa devotee! All glory to this Kṛṣṇa devotee! All glory to this Kṛṣṇa devotee! All glory to— Om namo bhagavate vasudevaya! Oh my God— Temelandasia? Yananjana shwakya?! Hare Kṛṣṇa. Hare Kṛṣṇa. Once again, I'd like to welcome all the guests that are assembled here. Yes, were most of you there at the rāthya-ta yesterday? Nice. So I want to thank the devotees of the Calgary temple. I want to thank the Festival of India and the other devotees who helped make this program a success. Prabhupāda gave us many wonderful gifts. And everybody likes a festival, isn't it? In the material world, people look forward to festivals, and also in the spiritual world. In the material world, festivals are celebrated with mixing with the opposite sex and liquor and so on. And in the spiritual world, our celebrations are based on chanting of the Holy Name. Once we were having a big program in Saint Petersburg. This is the second biggest city in Russia. So we were in the World Hall. A kīrtan program was going on, and in the next door hall, there was a western ballroom dancing, getting drunk, etc., program was going on. Our sound was penetrating into their room, and their sound was penetrating into our room. So our neighbors were very curious, "What are these people doing? They look so blissful, so happy." big. So they all started coming and seeing one by one what are the Hare Krishnas doing. And then they remarked, you people are dancing, displaying so much ecstasy, and I don't see any liquor bottle or holding the opposite sex's hand. We have to drink and all to get in the festive mood. So our festivals are based on not doing the Just like there is Rath Yatra festival. This is actually a very ancient festival which for a long time was being executed in Jagannath Puri. Long, long ago there was a king called King Indradamana. He was very pious, not like the present-day rulers. His total concentration was in serving the Lord. So one day while the king was in an assembly with his devotees, with his brahmanas, a brahmana came into the palace and said, "O king, the Lord has manifested Himself in a very beautiful form." That is known as Nil-mādhāvam. If you see that form, you won't feel like seeing anything else. He described this as the most beautiful object on the planet. So the king invited all his brahmanas, "Have any of you heard of a deity by the name of Nilamada?" And they all said, "No, no, no, we haven't heard." The king said, "Okay." 'Go house to house, village to village, city to city, and search if any of you can find where is Nilamāla installed.' So all the brahmanas, they, as per the king's order, went to different parts of the planet. They couldn't find it. No clue at all. So all came back saying, 'Sorry, we're going to find it.' One Brahmin did not come back. His name was Vidyāpati. He was determined, "I'm not going back home till I can find Nīlamādhava." So he started residing in a forest where also there was another person. He was not a Brahmin, but he was a lower caste man whose occupation was taking care of pigs. But at heart, he was a great devotee of the Lord. All, he was just, his total life was dedicated to the Lord. And he had a daughter named Lalita. Gradually, Vidyapati gained appreciation for Lalita's qualities and they got married. Vidyāpāti noted that Lalita's father goes out every day, doesn't come back in the night many times. And when he comes back, it appears as if he's coming back from heaven. His whole body would be full of fragrance. So he asked his wife, "Where does your father go?" Where does he go? The daughter said, I can't tell you. My father has ordered us not to tell anyone where he goes. But I'm your husband, how can you hide from me? There is a deity, but there are many versions of this story. I'm just giving you an abridged version. So he said, there's a deity by the name Nilmādhav, deep in the forest. My father goes there to worship the Deity. Because my father is so poor, he's always worried that some rich man will come and take the Deity away or build a temple for the Lord, and I will be deprived of my service. So he was keeping it a secret. So when the Brahmana heard 'Neel Madhav, neeli,' where his father-in-law is going to worship. He was in ecstasy. He said, 'Can you ask your father if I can have darshan of the Lord?' The daughter said, 'He'll never agree.' Finally she persisted with her father. And the father said, 'Okay, I'll take you, but on one condition.' "I'm going to blind your husband with a cloth around him so he doesn't know how to get there, and when we reach the destination, you'll open the cloth." Vidyapati said, "Okay, fine." So Vidyapati's wife Lalitha gave her husband some sprouts,— some beads that he wrapped inside his dhoti, and as they were proceeding, he kept on dropping them on the way so that there would be some identity how to get there. So when they got there, this Vijayapati, this Vijayapati saw that his father-in-law Vishvasu was engaged in unbelievable service. He would bathe the Deities with the water in the lake nearby. He would pluck the flowers from the jungle and make garland for the Deity. And he would pluck the fruits and offer them as bhoga to the Deity. And he also saw Near that lake was another— nearby there was a lake on which there was a crow sitting in one of the branches. And the crow fell asleep, fell in the water, and in front of Vidyapati's eyes went back to Godhead, mīrāprabhu. So Vidyapati was thinking, "Material life is such a struggle. Why don't I jump in the ocean, in the lake?" to get a spiritual body. But then as he was meditating, Divine voice said, "No! This is not your mission. Your mission is to find Nilamada." So anyway, cutting a long story short, he definitely headed back to palace with message for the king, "I have found Nilamada." The king was in ecstasy. This was It's constant meditation. Where is Nirmala? And the king came with his army to the location where Nirmala was originally located. When they came there, they saw the Deity is not there. The king was furious. You have hidden the Deity from me. I'm going to arrest you. But Viśvācara said, "Sir, I myself don't know what happened to the Deity." And then there was a Divine voice that said, "This Deity that you're looking for will not be found anywhere. Now," the Lord said, "I'm going to be manifested at Dharubravāsa." Daru means wood, as a wooden god. So, and there's a log of wood floating on the lake nearby. Take the log of wood and make a form of the Lord. So the king went back with great jubilation. At last he is going to have an audience with Nilamādhava. And initially When he tried to pick the log of wood, even with the help of thousands of men, he could not do it. They could not shake even a centimeter. In a transcendental voice, He said, "Go and bring the two devotees who were serving the Lord, Hridayapati and Viśvāsū. Then I will agree to go," the Lord said. That. So Vidyapati Vishwas was brought with a big chariot, ketan pani, and the wooden plank which had the footprints of Lord Vishnu's feet, was taken to the king's palace. The king invited many sculptors to make a form of the Lord. So many sculptors came. The moment they would use their instruments to make a form of the Lord, the instruments would break. The king got very frustrated. "I'm trying so hard and every time it breaks." Then Viśvākārma— have you heard of Viśvākārma? Who is he? The one who— the one who designed the Calgary Temple. Viśvākārma is the architect. To design the palaces of the demigods. Viśṣṇudāma disguised himself as an old man and came to the king's palace. He said, "I will carve a form of the Lord, but on one condition: for 21 days I should not be disturbed at all. If I'm disturbed," "I will withdraw and you will never find me." So the king said, "Okay, I agree to your terms." So Vishwakarma started carving the form of the Lord and tick, tick, tick. And the king was sitting outside the door with his ears posted to the door. Anxiously waiting for the 3 weeks to expire. After 2 weeks, you saw the tick-tick has stopped. You know, I remember a story. We were building the Jew Temple in Bombay. How many of you have seen the Hare Krishna Temple in Jew? Okay. Prabhupāda was staying in the 5th floor, and the noise of the carving of the stones was reaching Prabhupāda. So the devotees went to Prabhupāda and said, "Very sorry, I hope this is not disturbing you." Prabhupāda said, "Disturbing? This is kīrtan." Because that tick, tick, tick was being done to make a temple of the Lord. Prabhupāda called it kīrtan. So the king was anxiously waiting to see the Lord.. But then after 15 days he saw that tick-tick sound has stopped. So he got very panicky. What happened to Vishwakarma? He consulted his wife, whose name was? What was her name? Munisha. Munisha said, "You should break open the door and see what's happened." 'Maybe he has died. We didn't give him any food or water.' And the other minister said, 'No, no, no, don't. If we do, he will withdraw as he said earlier.' Anyway, the king took advice from his wife and they opened the door. When they opened the door, they saw, 'Oh, this unfinished form of Jagannātha was involved that you see here. At that time it was not even painted. So when the king saw the form, he initially thought, "Ah, because I came here prematurely, now Viśvākrama has disappeared leaving this form unfinished." And then Lord Brahmā said, "No!" Nādamūṇī said, "No, this is the way the Lord wants to be worshiped." And then the king built a palace, a beautiful temple in Jagannātha Puri. How many of you have been to the Jagannātha Puri temple? So in ISKCON, we have many festivals. In fact, some say every day is a festival. So the Rath Yatra is one of our regular festivals, and it is being done in close to 200 cities of the world. And we have one in Moscow on the 10th of August, and different parts of the world. And everywhere people are happy to to pull the chariot, dance for the pleasure of the Lord, and hear the holy names of the Lord. So our festivals are aimed at glorifying the Lord. That's why very soon we will celebrate Janmashtami, the appearance day of the Supreme Lord. Why does the Supreme Lord appear? Vaiṭanāya sādhunām vinācchajā duṣkṛtaḥ. Ḍharma-saṣa-pranarathaḥ samāvāmi-yo'kṛtiḥ. He appears to establish religious principle. And what is the nature of the Lord? jñāṇma-karma-cāve-devyaḥ. Completely transcendental. So God is inconceivable, and God can appear in many forms. One of the many forms of the Lord God is the form of Lord Jagannātha, which means Lord of the universe. So God is inconceivable. Sometimes people say God has no form. Thinking of God as someone impersonal is inferior or subordinate to accepting God as a person. God has a form. In the Bible it is said, God. Man is made in God's image. God has a form, but His form is completely transcendental. He is ācchuta. It means infallible. Transcendental means His form is not like ours. We age with the passage of time, don't we? We get old, we get diseased, and ultimately die. But the Supreme Lord doesn't age. Age. Have you ever seen a picture of the Lord wearing glasses or with wrinkled cheeks? Adyam puranā puruṣaṇo yavānām ca. Thou is the oldest. He appears every year. So the Supreme Personality of Godhead appears on the planet to establish religious principles. And the religious principles are summarized in a very ancient book of knowledge place, no one has the Bhagavad-gītā. How many of you have the Bhagavad-gītā in your homes? You all read it regularly? How many of you read the Bhagavad-gītā regularly? So the Lord gives us the principles of religion to humanity. Just like In any state, the government makes laws and you are expected to abide by it. If you abide by it, you are scot-free. And if you don't abide by it, you are liable to punishment. So similarly, the laws of God, the laws of God are to be found in all the bona fide scriptures of the world. So we honor the Bhagavad-gītā, Bible, Quran. These are all books of knowledge emanating from the Supreme Lord. So in the Bhagavad-gītā, Kṛṣṇa summarizes vast Vedic literature. The word Veda means knowledge. And I'm sure many of you have heard this word before. So knowledge, but this is a different type of knowledge. Knowledge coming from the Supreme Lord. The knowledge coming from the Supreme Lord is eternal. You may have heard the word sanatana-dharma. Have you heard that? The eternal duty of the living entity. So the knowledge coming from the Lord is free from all flaws. There are basically two types of knowledge. Spiritual knowledge and material knowledge. Material knowledge you get in every corner. In India, at every corner there's an educational institution. And even in your country, Canada, there's so many educational institutions. Everyone has material knowledge. But what is the goal of material knowledge? The goal of material knowledge is is to give you guidance how you can try and enjoy the material senses. There is this belief that the human eye was meant for maximum sense enjoyment, and we waste all our time in pursuing these goals. In the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, there's a nice example. Of certain animals, how they meet their end. Take for example the moth. You know what the moth is? The moth is very attracted to light. The moth knows it can't reach the moon or the sun, so it waits for the light, such as the bulb light you light up in the evening. When the mole sees the light in the evening, he says, "Ah, this is what I was waiting for all day." He goes and sits on the light, and he comes there to satisfy his eyes. The mole's eyes like seeing light. And when he comes there, the light is so hot He gets burned to death. So the deer, the deer is a very difficult animal to capture. And in Washington, in many of our devotee homes, you always see deer in the background, backyard. So the deer is very hard to capture, but he has a weakness for a certain melody. Melody. So the hunter, he plays that melody and the deer stops. "Where is this melody coming from? I want to hear this." And as he is hearing, he gets shot to death by the cunning hunter. So the deer is trying to satisfy his ears. Then you have the The bee is looking for a fragrance now. Goes from one part to another. In the end, it finds the lotus flower. And it loves the fragrance of the lotus flower. Goes and sits on the lotus flower saying, "This is real meditation, real happiness." But in the evening, the lotus flower closes, as you know. Grow, and then you get stuck with that. The he elephant is made to follow a she elephant, and there's a hole, big hole dug, which is covered by grass. So the he elephant has no idea he's being trapped. In order to pursue sex life, the she elephant He follows the she-elephant and ends up falling in a ditch. He's captured. So the Bhagavad Gītā gives this example to show how the moth meets his end in trying to satisfy the eyes, or the bee meets his end in trying to satisfy the ears, or the deer meets his end in trying to satisfy sound. And the fish, how do people catch fish? They put a particular food on the bait, the fish sees it and proceeds to get it, and it gets caught. So these different animals, in trying to satisfy their senses, endeavor in some activity. And they mean their death. So material knowledge tells us how we can satisfy the body more. But can these senses ever be satisfied? Yes or no? No. Well, a very soft no. That means many of you believe they can. How many of you think the senses can never be satisfied? For materialists, they would. Yes or no? No! No! Not so much. Okay. The scriptures say senses can never be satisfied. You read about a king, Gayati. He had all the personal things you could dream of for 10,000 years. In the end, he was so unsatisfied. So material knowledge tells you how you can enjoy your senses more. And what's the goal? Sense enjoyment. As you probably know, these days the world is very concerned about pollution. Is that right? They're worried. Except President Trump, everyone else is worried about pollution. He says there's no pollution. So why are we so concerned about pollution? Pollution. Because bad air, bad environment leads to diseases. And when you have a diseased body, you can't even pursue sense enjoyment. So material knowledge is incomplete. Today what do we see all over the world? A society in which no one has character. You can be the head of state, even though you may have, you may have had a very controversial background. So material knowledge is incomplete. My spiritual master used to say, "Zero plus zero plus zero plus zero equals two." Zero. So this is what material accomplishments are. If you add the figure one, then it becomes meaningful. In contrast, spiritual knowledge teaches us us how we can really be happy. It teaches us that we are all eternal. This body is just a temporary covering, just like as the Gita says, we discard our old clothes and what do we do? Wear new clothes. Similarly, the soul leaves the body and takes on another body. So the soul is eternal. Bhagavad-gītā, second chapter, explains this in great detail. Many people today, especially the atheistic and agnostic, don't believe there is a soul. But there is a soul, and it is eternal. Even the Bible says, "What shall I do? I have gained the whole world." suffer the loss of your eternal soul. So Bhagavad-gītā explains we are not this body. This body goes through how many stages of transformation? 6. Who says 6? Okay, what are they? Birth. Then growth. Maintenance. Losing vibras. Like winding in. Does anyone like old age? Let's be honest. Does anyone like old age? No. No. But can you stop it? No. Does anyone like getting disease? No. No. But you get disease. Does anyone like death? Death. Well, if you know, businessmen like death very much. They go bankrupt. Nobody wants death, but it comes. So if you carefully analyze a material life, there is really no real happiness. I had the opportunity of visiting devotees in hospital. Hospitals. I've had the opportunity to go to visit devotees in age or old age homes. They may have all the facilities, but they're experiencing nothing but misery. So Kṛṣṇa says in the Bhāgavad-gītā, there are two characteristics of material existence: duḥkālayaḥ Everything is temporary. We would like our relationships to be permanent. We would like everything to be permanent. But is anything permanent? Is anything permanent in material life? You can have the best insurance policy. Can that guarantee you anything at all? No. So in the material world, we see There is danger in every step. True or false? You can have the best of security, we can't guarantee our survival. There's danger in every step. We're all searching for happiness, but we don't find it, any real happiness. Today you see society hit with what? Depression. Is depression a problem? Yes, no? Yes. Tension? Yes. Stress? Yes. Why are all these? Why do people get stressed out? Why do they suffer from depression? Why do they have all these calamities? We have many material goals. We make all these goals. We have unlimited agenda to see real life. I want this, I want this, I want this. It doesn't matter what you get, you're never really happy. Looking at the faces, I see many of you have probably come from India. Am I right? So when you were in India, you all may be thinking, oh, if only I could get to Canada and US, and I dream of the whole world, I'll be happy. You come here now, and I'm sure over here, and come here, you realize that even with all these facilities, you can't get any real happiness. If you want real happiness, we have to turn to spiritual knowledge. And spiritual knowledge there in the Bhagavad Gītā, in some language in the Bhagavad Gītā. Bhagavad Gītā is the essence. Bhagavad-gītā is actually a book of knowledge. The Bhagavad-gītā translated by A.C. Bhaktivedānta Swāmi Prabhupāda has been further translated in over 80 languages of the world. And everywhere in the world people are reading it. Our Italian division has produced Bhagavad Gītā, which is 800 pages in weight, the biggest religious text ever published, and it's in our Delhi Temple Museum, which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister. So the point is, Bhagavad Gītā is a book of knowledge. Rājavairya, Rājavairya. This is real knowledge. Prasād RAval says, Prasad RAVALAJ says we should give spiritual knowledge to children from the age of 5. We give material knowledge, don't we? We introduce children to computers, etc., from the age of 2 and a half. But spiritual knowledge is in the background. So without spiritual knowledge, you can never be happy. So International Society for Krishna Consciousness, is a philosophical society. We are teaching the Veda based on the ancient Vedas. And Vedas are the words of God. And the Ācāryas and Śrīla Prabhupāda have translated these Vedic texts in English, in simple English, for our pleasure, for our convenience. So Vedas tell us, don't waste this rare human birth birth. When something is precious, you value it, you keep it cautiously. If you have gold, you don't lie at your door like a newspaper. You keep it in a safe, you keep it in a safe. So similarly, this human birth is very rare, and you want to realize, you want to ways you could have met. The Vedas say in this age of Kali, the prime process is chanting the name of the Lord. The Lord incarnates in His holy name. Kali Kali, Kali Kali, Nama Rupa Krishna Murtan. Lord descends in the holy name. Many times people wonder, how can I chant the same name again and again and not get I don't get tired. That's a common statement we hear from people. We can chant and not get tired. The holy names are non-different from the Lord. And because these holy names are non-different from the Lord, you can chant day and night and not get tired. So if you want real pleasure, if you want real happiness, if you want to be, have a peaceful mind, What is the simple solution? Chanting of the Holy Name. Unfortunately, few, the fortunate take to it, but the unfortunate keep hearing the glories of Hare Kṛṣṇa, but they are scared to chant. They are too busy to chant. My spiritual master once wrote an article called "Sorry, No Time." Prasad Raaval. So in that article he said he was speaking to a very important man in India about the importance of spirituality, and the man said, "Swamiji, you don't know how busy I am. No time, sorry." The next day this person had a heart attack and he died. So we think that we don't have time to chant. We don't have time to read, but we are missing out on the most important activity. So I request everyone is take advantage of the temple. Every Sunday we have the Sunday program. Prabhupāda, when he opened the first temple in New York in '66, he established the Sunday program. Prabhupāda knew that A day will come when most of our devotees will be doing jobs, businesses, and their spiritual life has to be facilitated. So we have this Sunday program in which you are invited. You get a chance to hear a lecture, have darshan of the Lord, and hear How you can achieve your ātmā. So we request everyone, please come every Sunday. How many of you come almost every Sunday to the temple? Okay. There are many who don't. Many who probably think there are other priorities. You can have priorities, but on Sunday, keep your time reserved for this. And if you constantly hear If you constantly hear the philosophy, it will sink in your heart. These days you must have seen the same product being advertised again and again, Samsung, Apple. So we need to hear again and again what is important in spiritual life, and only then does it sink in our heart. Otherwise it doesn't sink in. Sings. So the real path of happiness is take shelter of the Lord. So chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, read the Bhāgavad-gītā, and develop determination. Many times we have a desire, but we lack determination. And because we lack determination, we get swept by the illusory energy. Hare Kṛṣṇa to all of you. Is please come every Sunday. And if you can't come, chant at home. And after you, after participating in all the program, in the end, what do you have? What do you have? Prasāda. Prasāda means spiritual food, or food that can pray for others. The Bhāgavata-gītā gives that Says, "Those who don't eat prasāda, eating only sin." So this is the path to real happiness. Chant, associate with spiritually minded people, eat Kṛṣṇa prasāda, and eat to your satisfaction. Many times we meet people who may not agree with our philosophy, but they all agree with our prasāda. They say, "Prasāda is Super delicious. So please come every Sunday, perfect your life, and this will give you real happiness. And for all this wonderful program, we don't give you a bill at the end, do we? Do we give you a bill? No. Just like in the festival yesterday, I saw that you all were getting nice prasadas. You see that? It was so good. And someone told me it's free. I said we should. So please have this prasad and be happy. And don't forget, human birth is very rare. And if you want to get happiness, chant the holy names and read Bhagavad-gītā. Hare Kṛṣṇa. Hare Kṛṣṇa. So, any questions? Any questions? All of you agree? The spiritual life is very important. Yes? No? Yes. Do all of you agree there is danger at every step? Yes. And we can all be victims. But you have an insurance policy that guarantees you. Nothing will come without our permission. So please take to spirituality. So those of you who are connected to the temple, to ISKCON, know one of our main activities is book distribution. Is that true or false? True. Why? Why did Prabhupāda emphasize book distribution in our ācāryas? Who will give the answer? Why? Book of the Wisdom. Book of the Wisdom. Book of the Wisdom. Book of the Wisdom. It is a what? Foundation. There is knowledge in this book. Knowledge coming from the Lord, Bhagavan. And there is an encyclopedia of Vedic knowledge called the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, which is in 10 volumes and which gives has spotless knowledge and eternal knowledge. How many of you have the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam set in your house? All of you should be having it. This Bhāgavatam is so powerful. If we just meditate on it every day, our life will be successful. So there is a special a special program that was started by ISKCON devotees last year. Who knows what that special program is? You want a shortcut to go back to Godhead? Or you prefer the long cut? Shortcut. Shortcut. Just like chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa is also a shortcut. In the olden days, people had to meditate for 60,000 years. And now you can get the same benefit just by chanting. So, do we want shortcuts or no? Yes. Sometimes people say, "Can we get a discount?" I say, "What?" "Instead of chanting 16 rounds, can we chant 8 rounds?" I say, "No, 16 rounds is the standard given by the Acharya." So, the Shiva Bhagavatam is the spot less knowledge. So in the Bada Purnima— Bada Purnima is on September 14th. Where is the year of Bhagavatam? It's on the 3rd. No, no, no, 11. It's on 11. The canto is right there. The shloka is right there. Where? I'll read it out. Everyone understands English? Yes? No? Yes. You are very shy to speak. I'm sure. I'll read here in the Bhāgavatam. If on that full moon day, on the month of Bādhra, on page of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, Bhagavatam on a golden throne and gives it as a gift, he will attain the supreme destination. Come on! It means if you gift the special Śrīmad Bhāgavatam set to anyone of your choice, just for donating that set, you will get a shortcut back to Godhead. You will get unlimited mercy of the Lord. So this was in our scriptures for a long time, but we were sleeping, we didn't discover that. So last year the BVD launched this program, and now it is being done all over the world. Last year in the Vaddha Purnima marathon, we distributed 7,000 sets. 7,000 Shrimad Bhagavatam sets. 2,000 in America and Canada, 5,000 in India. So this year we are going to have the marathon again, isn't it? Should good things be done only once or repeated? Repeated. Many people told us, "Oh, why didn't you tell me first? I missed it." So we have the Bhadrāpur Dham Marathon. You can buy a set for yourself. You may say, "Oh, I have a set." Most people, how many phones do they have? And especially in India, everyone has 3, 4 phones. There was a time in India, when you get a telephone, you had to wait for 10 years in the queue. Now is the time. Everyone has 4 phones in their pockets, one in each pocket. So, and it's very common. Even if you have one set, you can have another set. And all of you have big homes here. Everyone lives like a king, virtually. But even if you don't, you want to keep it in your house. You can gift it to somebody else. To somebody else. Gift it to your relative, neighbor. I'm sure in your area you have a library, a community library. Gift it to the library. The libraries will gladly take the Bhagavad-gītā if it is free. If you ask them for payment, then they'll have second thoughts. And, or if you want to give it to your relatives or friends in India, that's another opportunity. We want to humbly request all of you, please take part in this Bazaar Purushottam, Bazaar. Lama Lama, I am a monk.
