Episode 62: Your Spiritual Journey with Bob Dove and Ray Catania

This is a transcript of Episode 62 of "Your Spiritual Journey" (YouTube) — an interview between host Dr. Bob Dove and guest Ray Catania (published March 18, 2024). Ray recounts his spiritual journey: growing up in a Catholic, immigrant family, rebelling into atheism in his teens, experiencing childhood psychic awareness, multiple brushes with death, and a formal near-death experience at age 20 involving leaving his body and encountering a bright white light and a benevolent being. He later studied metaphysics, reconciled science and spirituality in his writing (book one: The Atheist in the Afterlife; book two: exploration/transformation), founded Limitless Coaching and Limitless Publications, and now teaches/coaches but limits mediumship practice to protect his own well-being. Key personal facts mentioned: NDE at age 20; reports at least nine brush-with-death incidents; mother later said he died/resuscitated four times that day; he was ~55 at time of interview and found lasting happiness around ages 48–49.

Welcome everybody to another episode of your spiritual journey. This is Dr. Bob and we get down and dirty in talking about your soul and its journey as you experience this earth plane. So today's guest is someone I have really been looking forward to talking with. He's written two books. His name, and I meant to get his pronunciation, Ray. Is it Ray Catania or Catania? Catania, yes. Okay, Ray Catania. And let me tell you that Ray has helped hundreds of people in how they do their creating. He's an acclaimed author, a metaphysical teacher, a theorist and a coach. He's the survivor of a near death experience. In fact, he won't call it that because he said it's not near death, it's really dying. He's dedicated his life to helping others achieve their full potential. His unique approach combines scientific theories with his own life experiences to reveal how anyone can harness the power of the mind and create their own reality. As he says, be limitless, because he is the creator of Limitless Coaching as well as Limitless publications. And I could tell you a whole bunch more, but I'm going to stop talking because I'd like to hear from Ray. Ray, the way we do this is that I ask you to tell your. Your spiritual journey from early childhood until now, and then I'll ask you some questions. And then when we wrap up, I'm going to ask you for some words of wisdom. And I know you've got lots of them because I've read both books and there's a lot of wisdom in there. So the mic is all yours.
Thank you so much, Bob. Thank you for having me. It's a pleasure to be your guest. A privilege and an honor. Sure, I. I can start my story from childhood. And I guess that's really where it does start. You know, kind of came from a home that was a little dysfunctional and kind of, well, I guess angry, if you will. There was a lot of drama and it resulted in some trauma for myself. And I would try to kind of escape that as a young man by hiding, you know, and five, six, seven years of age, I would hide in different places in the house to, you know, get away from what was transpiring. And, you know, isolating oneself for long periods of time is similar to a practice that many of the yogis do where they go several days without speaking and just meditating and put themselves into an altered state of consciousness for hours on end. When you do that for many days and days turns into months and months turns into years, you begin to get in touch with things that are of this plane or. And others, but that we don't see as humans because we just kind of take it for granted that it's there and we walk right past that. We all have this ability, but we don't tune into it. And when you're forced to. To turn into it as I was not the best way to learn this sort of thing, but it was how it occurred. And I started to be able to see energy. I started to be able to see, like, what the wall was actually made out of. After I stared at it for hours and hours and days on end, you could start to see little lines in the wall and in the air and just around me. And I started to be able to. To feel this energy as well. Now, I thought nothing of this. I'm a child, 6, 7 years old. And it just. I thought everyone could do this. I didn't think any big deal. And, you know, and as my life kind of progressed and I got a little bit older, you know, I was coming from a, you know, a chaotic situation. I call it chaos was my comfort zone. And this is because, you know, when you're very young and you're constantly exposed to chaos, as you get older, you look for chaos, right? Because this is our programming. This is what we believe to be natural. This is what we believe to be real. And as you. As I got into my teens and I got into my 20s, if. If things weren't. If I didn't have chaos around me, I would create it or I would look for it because that's where I was comfortable. You know, I wasn't comfortable in a. In a. In a pure, natural, pleasant environment. I thought I wasn't. I wouldn't be needed there, or it's not important to be there, or. So I started to disregard the good things in life and gravitate towards the bad things in life. And I would put myself in some really bad situations where, you know, that could result in my death or, you know, something other than death. But, you know, it was never a situation that would. Any. You'd ever want to be in. And I began working for some shady characters who were involved in various activities. And, you know, I can recall on a couple of occasions where there would be a, you know, a shootout right in front of me in a bar. And in this one particular event, I had hid. I was hiding under the bar or behind the bar, I should say. And I didn't know how to get out of that. And this being who's always been there for me, this is my guide, this is my go to. He or she, I don't know, you know, just directed me. I kept hearing, not with my ears, but I'm sure you understand the transmission. It's more telepathic and it just appears and it says side door, side door, side door. Well, you know, to get to the side door, you know, that was like 15ft from where I was. If I got up, I had to get up and run there. I was going to be seen. I knew I was going to be seen. So it didn't really sound like a very good idea in the moment, but I guess I had nothing else, I had nothing to lose. So I went for the door and I managed to get out that one. But then you have to make a left, go through another door, and then there's a long corridor and then there was another door on the right. So to get all the way down there, I really wasn't sure I was going to make it because I knew I was going to be seen by the shooter or shooters, whatever it was. And. And I did, though, I got out that door and the Iraq. The ironic thing was that I. In the whole time, I've never ever parked my car outside that particular door. I always parked on the other side of the building. And for some reason I gravitated to that side and I put my car there so that when I got out of the door on that particular night, my car was right there and I was able to, to. To get away. So I don't think I would have made it if the car was on the other side. And I certainly don't think I would have made it if I didn't receive this advice, so to speak, from my guide. And that's not the only occasion. I mean, there's just been so, so many throughout the, the course of my life. There was even one when I was very, very young. I was about 10 or 10 years old, and I was swimming in the ocean and the current kept pulling me back and pulling me back and, you know, I wound up really far out at sea, you know, like too far that you're farther than you're supposed to go. And the lifeguard was looking to the other direction. There was about 15 or 20 kids on this side and it was just me on the other side, which was, you know, pretty standard for me because I was gravitated to being by myself. But he was helping those kids get out and no one was really looking at me. And I started to go under and I was swimming in place. It Was like I could not make any traction. I couldn't get any closer to shore no matter how hard I was swimming. And finally, you know, I, I panicked. I felt like this was it. I was going to go under and die. I was trying to even wave to my father on shore and I don't know what the heck he was doing, but just kind of staring and, and, and, and, and again, here's, you know, my friend, I'll call him my friend. And, and he says, and, and all of a sudden I get this feeling. It's like a wave of calmness that just goes through my body. And all of a sudden I'm. I'm this relaxed kid and I'm not shaking, I'm not panicking. I'm not hyperventilating. I'm just, I'm okay. And he says, swim sideways and take as long as you need. Calm down. Swim sideways, take as long as you need. I'm never going to forget that because it's, it's what I did. I was calm, I was relaxed, and I swam on an angle. And eventually I made it to shore. And, and I did not know this, but in a severe undertow, that is actually the way to get out of the water. But I wouldn't have known that at that age. There's no way. No one ever taught me that. And I remember I finally got to shore. It took what seemed like forever. I got there and then all the. I collapsed and all these people, adults were running around me to see if I was okay. And then, you know, I was like, now I'm. I'm afraid because I've got all these people around me and I don't trust people. And, you know, I jump up and I'm afraid again and I start running. So it was a pretty traumatic, you know, experience overall. And but the beauty of the thing was that is this particular being has, has always just, you know, popped up in these situations where I would experience what I call a near death. You know, that's a brush, you know, a brushwood death, where you could, could potentially die. And I've had at least nine of them, I think, that are in the book alone. And then of course, there's the real death, which is, quote unquote, called a near death experience. And, and that one.
Ray, before you get into that one.
Sure, sure.
I want to back you up for a minute.
Okay? Yeah, please.
Okay. Because my understanding is you're from an Italian immigrant family.
Yes, that's correct.
That was very Catholic.
Yes, that's correct.
And that you attended Catholic mass every week with, with the family.
Did all my sacraments.
But you talk about being an atheist.
Yeah.
And so I'm curious how, I guess how that fit with your Catholic upbringing or when did you renounce the church? How did you navigate your family situation and your parents strong beliefs in the Catholic faith? So could you, could you talk about that a little bit? Because that's not addressed a lot in your books.
Yeah, definitely. I think that the reason I rebelled against Catholicism wasn't so much about Catholicism in that particular moment. It was more of a rebellion against my. Although there were many, many discrepancies that I found in Catholicism later on in life, I felt it was very sexist towards women. And I just didn't really think that things were written or meant to be the way they were written. So I did object to some of those later. But the core beliefs were really, I pushed back because it was whatever my parents believed in, I was not going to believe in because they simply disappointed me as a, as a child. And I didn't, like I said, I didn't come from a happy home. It certainly wasn't the Brady Bunch. In my house, you know, after dinner, it was like, who was going to get their abuse, when and why? So I didn't really care what they believed and I was going to go in the opposite direction.
So about what age were you when you made that decision?
Well, I went along with everything, just being a non believer, but I didn't really know what the term atheist meant probably until my mid teens, you know, where I actually chose to define myself by a word. But, you know, I went through the motions because I had to, not because. And that was another thing. The more it was forced upon me, the more I would rebel against it again, you know, So I don't think I really had that definition until I was in my mid teens. But I certainly wasn't okay with being anything. I don't think I would have accepted any religion at that point in time. Anything that my parents were giving me, I was going to rebel against, you know. Okay, so. So yeah, I think that, yeah, I would say the actual definition probably was mid teens when I chose atheism. And then of course, as my life progresses, you know, we'll see more and more and more evidence that that is not true. I don't have a particular religion that I gravitate to. It's. I have my own spiritual beliefs which are a combination of beliefs, but there isn't one particular religion that I, that I think is A hundred percent accurate. I think they all have their, you know, their, their good points and their bad points. So that's kind of how I feel about it today.
Okay, so you don't consider yourself a Buddhist or, or following?
No, no, I really don't. I like a many Buddhist beliefs though. I do kind of align with that. But I don't call myself a Buddhist. I don't, I don't think that we need to call ourselves anything. I call those terms separators. And when you define yourself by a separator, you're taking yourself out of the humanness that you are or the energy that you are. I don't, I'm not a part of a political party. I'm not white, I'm not black, I'm not gay, I'm not straight. I'm nothing. And the more nothing I become, the more something I am. And the more people realize this, the better we're going to be. Because we're all one consciousness, we're all one energy. We're not individuals that are, that join parties and religions and, and groups. And it's these groups that we create that we cause hate and we, we go after one another. And that's a big mistake. So. You know, Ram Dass wrote a book called Becoming Nobody. And the first time I was shown that book, I chuckled. Now it's. I get it, I get it. The best thing I ever did in my life was become nothing. Because as nothing, I'm everything. And that is the greatest place I think one can be.
Yeah, I get it, I get it. Totally. Okay, I interrupted you. And you were about to head us into your near death experience.
Yeah, so that was. I was 20. 20 years old. And the, the house, the way it was situated, I was still living with my parents at this time and my bedroom was just above the kitchen. And so in the kitchen, obviously you have a stove. This particular stove on that particular evening was leaking gas. It was natural gas that ignited the flames on that stove. And the gas was leaking all night. And it was rising, of course, and it would. Into my bedroom while I was sleeping. And I was inhaling it all night, not sure how long, you know, it was, it was leaking, but I certainly had plenty of hours to breathe it in. And the next morning my, my mother had come down to just, I guess cook breakfast and she turned on the stove and, and you know, a big ball of flames just kind of came out and it caught the back wall on fire and there was smoke. But the way I understood it, the, that bad and it was. My father was able to put it out, I guess, with a fire extinguisher or whatever. But the. Everybody forgot about the gas. It was the gas that was the problem. It wasn't the smoke, it wasn't the fire. So they are letting me sleep upstairs because I guess the assumption is the fire is out. Why bother him? So the fire trucks come, the police come. I hear the commotion and I try to get out of bed to see what's going on. And I find that I really can't move too many parts of my body. And my legs felt like they were a thousand pounds in my head. I couldn't get it off the pillow. I tried to yell. I couldn't really. I couldn't. Just. I couldn't operate. I didn't have my motor functions. I really couldn't do much of anything. So I had an arm that worked, and the other arm worked a little bit. And I pulled myself to the edge of the bed to try to get out of the bed. And I figured if I could just pull myself to the edge of the bed and get out of the bed, you know, I didn't. That. That again, that's. This is the message. Get out of the bed. I got to get out of bed. If I don't get out of this bed, I'm going to die. That much I know for a fact. And I pull and I pull and I pull and I finally get to the edge and I tumble out. And I tumble out face first. So my face hits first. Right. Now, the. The strange thing about this is, is I know I hit face first. I feel it, I know it, but it causes me no pain. That's the strange part. There's no pain when I hit the floor. Nothing hurts. So. And that's because in that moment, I was no longer in that body. The second I hit, or maybe just the second before I hit, I was out of my body. And I'm looking. I'm just floating in a room. It's a square room. I am in a corner of the room looking down at my lifeless body on the floor. And it doesn't frighten me because it feels amazing. Confused, but I'm not frightened. Why? I don't know. And colors are more vivid. Everything is brighter. A feeling of euphoria starts to overtake me. And adjacent in the opposite corner is a huge white light that's shining on me. It feels like it's a spotlight. And at the end of the light is this being who says it's okay to come into the light. It's okay. Ray called me by my first name. It's okay, Ray. To come into the light. And this light is complete euphoria. It's complete love. It's complete painlessness. It's complete energy. It's. It's. It's just. It's happiness. It's all every positive adjective you can possibly give it. And I was one with that light. For the first time in my life. I think I was experiencing what was pure bliss, pure happiness, pure painlessness. And I wanted to go into the light. And I began to go into the light. I did. I trusted the being at the end of the light and I began to enter. And the more I went in, the more euphoric it felt and the more I wanted to go and the more euphoric it felt. But this is the moment. This is a defining moment for me. Now my father runs into the room, kicks the door open, finds me on the floor and scoops me up. And he is clearly distraught. He's screaming for paramedics to come. And he's crying and he's hugging me and he's holding me and. And that's not the man I know. That's not the father I had. We didn't have a good relate relationship at all. And yet here he is showing clearly love and affection and the things that I always wanted from him but didn't get. And it was in this moment that I asked if I could return. And I believe that the reason I did that was to have that relationship with him that I did not have, which didn't happen, unfortunately. But I was kind of negotiating. I said, I can't leave him like this. I can't leave him like this. And I don't know how much time went by because there is no time on the other side. But I woke up and I was in. I was on the floor in the living room now, and the paramedics are working on me and they're. They have all their tools and equipment out and they're doing their thing. And I pop up and I wake up and I'm like, guys, guys, stop, stop. Get off me. I feel great. I feel fantastic, in fact. And they're like, no, you're not good. Just. Just lay there and I'm like, no, no, no, no, you don't understand. I feel. I feel incredible. Did you see the light? Did you hear the voice? And they start looking at one another and like, now they're wondering if, you know, did I overdose? Am I on drugs? Am I insane? And I'm going to wind up in the wrong hospital. So I just kind of shut my mouth and let them do their thing and take me away to the hospital. And it wasn't until I tried to discuss this with my mother and it was shot down. I was told it never happened. You're out. You're crazy. That did not happen. And I understand now, today, in hindsight, I get why it was very traumatic for her. She lost her son on her watch, or nearly did, and she blocked it out. And I get that. I do. And it wasn't until she was 82 years old that the book was published. And she called me up and she said, I'm sorry. Not only did it happen, but she told me I died four times that day, and I was resuscitated four times. I did not know that. So we kind of bonded in that moment. And I have a much better relationship with her today than I've ever had after the book was published. And I think that, you know, it gave me a different perspective of her and her of me. At the same time, you know, we do the best we can with our children because we're taking knowledge from what we know. So I have no bad feelings. I have no ill will at all towards them. They came from tremendously horrendous homes. What I had compared to what they had is a huge step up.
I wanted to make a comment about your father.
Yeah.
Because in your second book, you relayed a story, I guess I want to call it the fish story of something that he went through. And in relating that story, I felt your love for him. And I guess to hear that you never had that relationship that you wanted, at least in reading that story, it seemed like there was a lot of forgiveness there.
Yes. Yes, there was. In that particular story, he was in the Navy, and he was stationed outside of Cuba on a warship during the Cuban Missile crisis when the Russians were bringing nuclear weapons to Cuba. And the only thing preventing them was my father and the other ships that were surrounding Cuba. So it was the closest thing to a nuclear war that America has ever been faced with. And just as the Russians were approaching, they were a couple of maybe 48 hours out, there was a huge storm, and my father was stationed on deck, and there was no way for him to get below deck, and nor was he supposed to, because it was his watch. And he held on to one of the metal poles that, you know, is right at the edge of where the ship. You know, it's to protect you from falling off the ship. And he just wrapped his arms and his legs around it and held on for dear life because this storm was so tremendous that it was rocking a warship, I mean, back and forth, and the waves were coming over the top and coming over his head. And, you know, many men were lost and went overboard on that night, and my father was not one of them. And he was holding and holding on, but he was. He would start to fall asleep and he was about to give in and. And just, you know, accept his fate that was going to be washed away. And something kept slapping him in the face. And every time he was about to fall asleep, he would feel smack, smack, smack, smack, smack, smack, smack, smack. And it would keep him awake and keep him focused enough to hold on to that. That. That pole, that metal pole that was connected to the ship. And the next morning, I guess he was just kind of passed out and the storm had passed, and he was just lying there and his buddies came out to rescue him and bring him in. And as they lifted him up and they brought him in, there was a fish that was stuck in his shirt or his uniform, and the tail of the fish was here, and it was. That's what was smacking him in the face, keeping him awake. And the fish falls out and one of the guys kicks it overboard and. And not understanding the value of that fish and how it had saved his life. And, you know, my father called that divine intervention and believed that wholeheartedly for the. For the rest of his natural life. And, you know, I remember a lot of stories that my father had told me, and that one in particular stuck with me because now I understand that, you know, that fish did not was no accident. It was no coincidence, you know, and when I heard the story, I may have thought it was, but now I clearly understand that there are forces beyond our imagination that can and will in some cases, save our lives for some reason. And I don't know what his reason was, I don't know what my reason is for them keeping me alive, but it happens and it happens, and it's certainly no coincidence.
Yeah, I just. I wanted the audience to hear this story just because it really affected me. I just love that story. You are a great storyteller. It sounds like your father was a storyteller and you are a really good storyteller too.
Yeah, my father was quite a character. You know, like I said, he came from a terrible neighborhood and, and grew up in worse situ. Much, much situation. Worse situations than I did. So they really did bring us to a new level of living. And I guess that's what we all try to do for our kids, right? We try to make things better for them than we had it. And, and they certainly did that. And it wasn't, like I said, it wasn't the Brady Bunch, but it was a lot better than he had had it. So for that reason, I, I having my own children now, I respect them more so than I did when I was, you know, teens and twenties and putting myself in these terrible situations. And so after having the NDE telling my mother about it and her telling me it's not real, well, you know, I just compartmentalized it simply by finding a practical answer for it. I felt that I fell in front of a window, and the sun was probably shining through the window, and that's what I thought was the white light. And I inhaled gas fumes all night long. So I was probably hallucinating the being and the voice and everything else that I heard. And that allowed me to go right back to atheism and because it was simpler, it was comfortable, I knew it, I understood it, and I certainly did not understand what was happening to me.
Yeah.
And a little bit after that is when I move out of that house and I get my first apartment. And when I get my first apartment, I think that this is just going to be the greatest thing because I'm on my own and, and we're going to have parties, and it's all my friends are going to be there every night, and it's going to be great. And that none of that ever happened. I mean, from the first day that, that, that I moved into this, this new home, it would feel like the room was filled with people. And it wasn't people. It was energies. It was the energies that were with me in the closet. It was the energies that were with me under the bed. Now I crossed over, can see energy, and now I can feel it more so. And I am, you know, I, I cross over, I basically brought them back with me. Like they have this direct portal. It's. I'm. I'm now a. A conduit between this world and. And the next realm. And I don't understand any of this in the moment. I just think I'm completely insane. And I was petrified. I was. I didn't know what was happening to me. I did. I did not put this in a perspective of this was another realm of existence because I wasn't capable of accepting that yet. I was not ready for that. So I thought this was all in my head. I'm Crazy. But I could not sleep. I had severe insomnia because they would keep me up all night, and they. The only way for me to sleep was to use large quantities of alcohol and drugs. And I became a serious alcoholic because that was the only way I could block them out and ignore them. And it was like they weren't there. And I would drink no matter where I was. First thing I would do is find myself a drink. And at night, in order to go to sleep, I would pop some pills, and that's the only way I could go to sleep.
So, out of curiosity, did you feel that these were, like, poltergeists that came with the apartment or that these were entities that you brought with you or. Or only were there because you were there?
Well, now I know they were only there because I was there and because I had the ability to see them and communicate with them. But back then, I just simply thought I was schizophrenic and. And I had to turn it off. And the only way I could turn it off, you know, was to just bombard myself with alcohol and drugs. And when I did that, I didn't care if they were there anymore, and I could just carry on, you know. But, you know, I think about all the things just. They're trying to get my attention. The electrical appliances would work, then they wouldn't work, and the channel would change and the TV would go off and the phone would disconnect. And we had landlines back then. We didn't even have the cell phone yet. Or we did, but it was like $2aminute to talk on it, so nobody was using that. And I would call my maintenance guy once a week and tell him, you know, my alarm goes off for no reason, and this happens, and that happens. And he's like, kid, everything works here perfectly. Okay. You know, don't call me anymore. And now I really think I'm crazy. Every time I express anything to do with this, somebody tells me I'm crazy. So I'm. I'm accepting this as a reality. And I move into the next apartment because I had to get out of that one. I thought if I switched, maybe things would be better. Maybe it was the house. Maybe it was something, you know, because you start thinking about television and the things that you see, but it's. It's nothing like that. So I get to the next place, and the same exact thing happens again. It's just in a new environment. So I realize it's not the house, it's me. And, you know, I must Be losing my mind. So it's many, many years goes by until I get married and I have two kids. Not many, many years. I think it was about eight or seven or something. I don't know. And my. I get married to my first wife. We have two children now. This changes me tremendously because I always said if I have kids, I'm going to raise them differently. I'm going to be different than my parents. I'm going to do everything right. I'm going to. You know, I read book on raising kids. I. I did everything I could possibly do to give these kids every advantage that I could give them. So one of those things was to check myself into rehab. First of all, I don't know anybody who's ever driven themselves to rehab parked the car and walked in and said, don't let me out. I went back to college. I completed my college degree, which is something that was very hard for me. I had a learning disability. I could. I barely got through high school. And so I was. I got a good job, I started working my way up and I did well, and I think I did well for my kids to the, to the best of my ability. Gave them, you know, a lot, maybe. Maybe too much. I don't know. Got another job, worked my way up the ladder in that company, became. Got to the top of that company, did well again. And then I decided my marriage had fallen apart in the third year and I had my kids. So I really had to make sure for them, this was all for them. And in fact, the dedication in the second book is to them because they don't know how much they did for me, let alone what I've given them. And I wanted them to really know that, you know, they're old enough now, they're in their 20s, they can understand it. And. And I wanted them to know what they did for me because they changed the course of my life. And so pretty much maybe I don't know exactly how many years as passed, I'm living this life that is good or okay to what I'm told is supposed to be, quote unquote, good, right? Making a good living, giving the kids what they need. I still have these energies around me, but they're not intrusive. I guess they know I can't help them. I don't know what to do with it. So they stopped kind of being super annoying. They're still there, but they're just not super annoying. And eventually I decided to start dating again. And I go on a website, I went on Several websites, actually. And I was trying to decide which one I should join. And when you go to the websites, they give you some examples of ladies that live in your area, so to entice you to kind of get you to join. And one of the examples on one of the websites was a woman that I looked at and I knew instantly that was my wife. There was no question about it. I knew it was her the instant. It wasn't just physical, it was deeper than physical. It was on another level. I had never felt anything like it. And I joined the website and I sent one email and one email only, and I told her this. I joined the site to send you this one email because you're my wife and you don't know it yet. And by the way, my name is Ray. And I said it in a more funnier way than that in the book. I actually copied and pasted the real email that I sent to her in the book. And her real response is in the book also, which she found funny. And we did get married. We still married.
We.
We still live together and things are great and. But in the beginning, now when we're just kind of. We're getting to know each other and we're getting serious, she pops a question that I was not ready for, and it's. She has two young children. I have two older children. And, you know, when you get married, you kind of decide, well, you know, how are you going to raise the kids? Right? So she says, what are your spirits, spiritual beliefs? And I'm like, what are yours? And I kind of tried to get the question back to her so I could just agree with whatever she said. I would be like, yeah, that's me too. Yeah, yeah. But, you know, the truth of the matter is I didn't know. I. I really didn't know what my beliefs were. I had no clue. I was older now. I was more mature. I was able to look back in hindsight at some of these things. I started feeling differently about the NDE because by that time I had researched it a little bit and seen that there were so many other people that saw what I saw, felt what I felt. So I think I was starting to turn the corner. And when it was a couple of months later, oh, I remember, I said, I'm going to look into that. I really. I didn't know. I said, I've been meaning to look into this, you know, what are my beliefs, try to figure them out, but I haven't had a chance to do it. So she says about a month later, it's approaching my birthday, and she says, I'm going to buy you a spiritual clearing. Now, I do not know what a spiritual clearing is. I said, so is it like a massage? And she says, no, silly, no, it's not a massage. And I said, oh, okay. So it. When she explained that, it really didn't sound very appealing to me. And she says, you don't even have to be there. It could be done from a distance. And basically she will clear you your energy and your chakras and, you know, you'll be in line and. And goes on and on and on. Explains it. And I'm like, okay, that's. That's just wonderful. On cake. We'll have cake, right? Some cake, yeah. Okay. So I'm not taking this very seriously, obviously, and. But the woman calls me and I'm at work and it's about 10 o', clock, it's. And she calls me and she says, okay, I'm going to begin your clearing now. And just for the next couple of hours, try not to do too much. Just relax. And afterwards you may feel a little strange. That's normal. Just call me if you do, you know. So she calls me back two hours later, says I've completed it. If you feel a little off, that's okay. Everything's fine. And everything went well. And this is what I found. You had tons of blockage. You had this, you had that, you, you, this year, that. And I'm like, okay, great, great, excellent, you know, sounds wonderful. Thank you so much. Bye. And I think nothing of it. I get up maybe a little bit later out of my office and I go to walk to the bathroom and I'm wobbly and I'm starting to feel. Now the energies that are in the room that I was blocking out, and I had them, you know, kind of over there, and I was over here and I didn't have to acknowledge them, but now it's like they. They're back. It's like I felt like I was in that apartment again. And I hate that feeling, you know, I just. I was like, this can't be happening again. And I leave and I'm like, this is. It's all in my head. It's all in my head. It's all in my head. I just talk to her. It's all in my head. And I go home for the day. I leave work, it's a Friday, I left early. I said, I have a headache, I got to get out of here. I go home and I lay down and all Night long. This is the very first time that I see energy in the form of a human. And it's not with my eyes. He's not standing in front of me. And I'm not hearing with my ears. It's a movie screen that opens in my face. Third eye. I can see the screen. In the screen is a human being. It's a man. And he's like almost front and center. He's just a little over. This is his spot. And I'll explain what that means later. He's always here. And he says to me, I effed up. I made a mistake. You can help her. I cannot. I've never seen this man before in my life. I do not know what this message means. And now I really am convinced I'm insane. I try to shake this off and I try. I try. I just. Okay. I imagine that and I. And I try to go back and watch television. And it happens again, and it happens again, and it happens again. And it's almost like I'm rewinding and I'm watching a video loop over and over again. Saturday. It gets closer and closer together. The times that he comes and he repeats himself. By Sunday, it was so close together, it felt like it was every five minutes. I could not function. I could not drive. I could not carry a conversation. I wanted to just hide in my room and just hide there. I didn't even want to interact with my kids. I didn't know what was happening. And I remember the breaking point. Because I was in a store. I was paying for my stuff on the counter. And I don't know what I did. Maybe I froze or maybe I did something silly. I don't know. Maybe I said, get out of here or something. I don't know. But the lady says, sir, are you okay? And I said, no, no, I'm really not. And I took my credit card back and I went to the car. I didn't even take my stuff. I just went to the car and I sat down and I put my head down and I said, what the hell? What? You know, what have I done to deserve this? What have I done wrong? And, you know, I know I wasn't a great person at one time in my life. I know that I was rebellious. I know I did some terrible things. And maybe. Maybe this is. Maybe this is my punishment. And I don't know what to make of it. But here's what I do know. I'm insane. And I'm gonna have to get my affairs in order so that my children are taken care of. I make. I know. I made a will. I gave it to my brother. I have a dnr. I gave it to my brother. I do not want to ever be resuscitated again. I'm going into that light. I don't want to be brought back. I don't want to know anything. I'm going to the light. And this is really my mindset. This is where I'm at. And I'm dead serious. And I just find this woman that I love. And I. And I started to almost cry because, you know, I finally just found love. And I'm like, why? Just. Just why? And I have to tell her. Of course it's. It's not. It's going to come out. It's not going to be a secret. So I may as well tell her. And to make this story even crazier than it already is, my wife, who wasn't my wife yet, is a doctor of psychology and neuropsychology. And I'm going to tell her. I see dead people. I don't know that they're dead people. I just know that I see something. I see people. So, you know, imagine the conversation at dinner. You know, how's the salmon? I see dead people. Would you like to see the dessert menu? You know, she's gonna just run. And I know this, and that's okay. And I've come to terms with this. I'm going to die. I'm gonna tell her, maybe I can get some help. Maybe she'll. She's in the. The psychology world. Maybe she can refer me to somebody who can help me. But I know I'm never going to see her again. So I do have this conversation. I tell her what I see. This. This big, stocky guy comes. He's got a beard, a mustache. He's got dark black hair. And he says. And over. He says, you know, I effed up. I made a mistake. You can help her. I cannot. And I explain everything the way I see it. And she says. All of a sudden, this look on her face was like. She goes, oh, my God, that sounds like my dad. And I said, your dad? You told me your dad was dead. And she goes, he is dead. And. And now I'm thinking, okay, you're the one that's crazy. I'm getting that. Check, please. I'm. I'm leaving. She said, well, you're probably a medium, and you just don't know it. And I'm like, what the heck is a medium? What is. What. What is. What is what is this thing? I don't understand this. People talk to dead people. And she says, relax, Let me tell you a story. I've been to many mediums. My father comes through exactly the way you said. He's always front and center. They're very, very confused as to why he can be front and center and most people cannot. He's very powerful. Everything that you described to me, another medium has described to me. And I said, okay. I didn't know what to say. I was just stunned. I didn't believe in mediums. I didn't believe in anything. She says, listen, why don't we just go see a medium? There's a very prominent one that's coming to our area. She's going to be staying with a friend of a friend. We can make two appointments, we can go see her, and you can explain to her what it is. You see how it is that you see it, and you guys can compare notes. I said, that sounds great. What have I got to lose? It's that or the loony bin, right? So. And I can't say it. She gets very mad if I say anything like that. I have to. I have to use the proper terminology. She's a doctor. So she takes me to see the medium and we sit down. Actually, at first, I walk in, I said, hi, I'm Ray. And she looks at me and she pauses and she says, oh, you're that Ray. And I was. I haven't. Yeah, I guess. I don't know. Am I? And she says, tell me what's going on, Ray. And I said, I'm. I'm insane. I'm. I'm insane. I see people that are not there, and they talk to me. And she starts to chuckle. So do I. And I was like, okay, this one's nuts. This is great. And she says, just explain to me how it happens. And I said, okay. So first I get the vibrations. And then sometimes the room might. The temperature might change just a little tiny bit or I might feel a breeze. And there's no windows open. And then I get this tingly feeling. And then the movie screen opens. She goes, stop. I said, what? She goes, that's exactly the way I see it. She goes, that's the way we all see it. We always explain it as a movie theater, as the movie screen. Every. A lot of people, they call it the drive in, or they call it the. This. They called that. And I was like, wow. So this is a. This is a thing. And she's like, yeah, this is. This is real. And she goes, it's very rare that men have this at all. And I was like, wow, okay. And then I proceeded to tell her other things that have transpired, like the being and, and the premonitions that I've received and I've. And, and this is, this has come to light and that. And, and sometimes I just know things that I don't know how I know them. I'm having this wonderful conversation with somebody who actually understands me. And she says, she levels with me. And she says, you know, when I was a kid and I expressed these things, my parents had me put away in a mental institution. And I was like, oh, my God, you poor thing. But I thought I was going there too, right? So I could totally relate to her. And I just put my arms around, I'm like, oh, my God. I mean, I'm like, me too. I wanted to check myself in. And she's like, no, we're okay. We're okay. This is a real thing.
Hey, I hate to do this.
Please, go right ahead.
We're beginning to run out of time here.
I'm so sorry.
Oh, I'm sorry. And I know we could go on and on. People are going to have to buy your books to hear the rest of the. And I, I, I did want to say that both books are on display here for YouTube watchers. Thank you. So I want to give you a moment to talk about how the two books came about. What, what got you to write them?
Yeah.
If there are more on the way. And then tell us about limitless coaching and limitless publications. Absolutely.
Thank you.
You've got less than five minutes to do that.
Okay.
So go.
I'm sorry. Sorry if I babble too much.
No, that's okay. That's. It's very interesting, but the, the, the.
First book, the Atheist in the Afterlife, I call it my transition. And it's the transition of me going from atheism to becoming a believer, to experiencing these things and then accepting them to be real. And then the second book is the exploration, so it's the transformation. It's when not only do I accept them, but I learn more and more and more about them. I went back to college for metaphysics. I'm about to get my PhD in metaphysics. I read voraciously. Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra on one side, the spiritual side on the other side. I studied all the great physicists. Tesla, Einstein, Niels Bohr, you name it. And I've read them all. And what I've been able to do in the second book is take science and spirituality and bring them together so that it can make sense to the scientific community and it can also make sense to the spiritual community. Excuse me. Because the, the faster we bring these two communities together, okay, we can all coexist. And there are common denominators. You just have to open your mind. Both sides, the science side and the religious side come together, meet in the middle. Let's talk about this, because this is real. And I can explain exactly how the law of attraction works, and I can explain how I can see these people. And there are scientific principles behind this. It's not that difficult to understand, but you have to look for it and you have to want it, and you. You got to dig, dig, dig. And I did that research, and my dissertation is going to be on. Is the AFT is the NDE proof of an afterlife? And you're damn right it is. And, and, and yeah, I will prove that in my dissertation. So, you know, these. That. That's the second book, you know, trying to spirituality and present it in a way in layman's terms. I don't speak like a physicist. I'm not a physicist. I am not. I don't consider myself highly educated even. You know, yes, I do have these degrees, but I'm a regular guy and I talk in regular terms. And I think. I swear 150 times or something in the book. My editor said, you want to tone that down? And I said, I don't know if I should. That's. That's kind of who I am. And, you know, I just leave it. That's. I tell it like it is. Both books are written like you're sitting across the table from me, and I'm taking you through the series of events that. That brought me to this point. And at the end of the second book is when I have a MA. When I'm writing it, I have this massive spiritual awakening. And I literally had to go back and check everything in the. In the book and do a lot of rewrites because of what I learned at the very end of writing the second one. And it was when I lost my ego and I was like, oh, my God, you know, for the first time in my life, I found happiness. And happiness is not always being happy. It's being okay with not being okay. That is the awakening that is. I'm not enlightened, but that's what enlightenment is. It's, oh, you're okay when you're not okay. So of course you're okay when you are okay. Right. And it's that feeling of being content at all times, whether you're happy or sad. None of that is real. It's just you, your contentment, your acceptance, and surrendering to what is. And when I lost my anger, when I lost my anger, I was blown away. And that was my go to emotion my whole life. And in a moment, in an instant, I accomplished what I was trying to do. Retrain my brain. Retrain, retrain. No anger, no anger. Suppress it. Go get it. And we can't delete the things that have happened in the past, but we can overwrite them. Them. We can overwrite them with new beliefs and new ways of looking at the world. And then eventually that just comes naturally after you've done it so many times. And when it came naturally for me, that moment in time, I was free. I was free of that emotion. You know, I experienced some anger, I experienced some sadness, but it dissipates. It's an experience. It's not. I don't define, I don't say I'm angry. I say I'm experiencing some anger and I let it go. And it's living this way that I want everybody to feel this, and I want everybody to experience this. So if, if you're on the fence with your spiritualism, start with book one. If you're a little more advanced, go to book two. And, and, and please take this information and utilize it because it's so crystal clear. And I, I think you'd agree it's simple, it's not complex, and anybody can really accomplish this, but you got to put your mind to it and you got to want to do it. And I, I don't practice mediumship anymore. And it's because I have to commingle my energy with the deceased, and I have to take on their emotions in order to deliver the message. And I, it took me. I'm 55 years old. I didn't find happiness till I was about 48, 49. And I'm not ready to give that up yet. So I study it. I still have my mentors, but I don't practice it because it brings me down honestly. And I respect mediums very, very much because they are really taking on negative emotions in order to give you the sitter, the positive result. So don't think it doesn't hurt them, because it does. And they. You. They can only do so many in one day. But maybe someday I'll return to that. But right now I just want to be free of my negative emotions that I carried for the first half of my life, and I kind of like where I am now.
So I want to let my audience know that on my website, Your Spiritual Journey, podcast.com I will have links to your website to Limitless coaching as well as limitless publications so that people can find out more if they wish to interact with you to gain from your experience and move on with their lives and use the tools that you've developed.
Yes, I do teach those. And I coach. And I thank you very much for allowing me to say that. Thank you.
And one last thing. At the end of your second book, and I'm going to give a teaser, you let your readers know that we are God. That you are God, indeed. And you've got to read the book to figure out how we come to that conclusion. That's a message that I like to get out. It's a tough one for some people to accept, but once you figure that out, then you are limitless.
Indeed you are. Thank you so much.
Thanks for being on the program. Hopefully we. We can get Jessica in front of the mic.
That would be great. I'll try. I will try.
Okay. Well, audience, you've heard it here. Take what resonates with you. Put the rest on the shelf until you're able to have that also resonate with you at some future point. And until next time, this has been your spiritual journey.
