Hi, I'm Reena Vokoun, the founder and CEO of PassionFit, as well as a TEDx speaker, author, and certified health and wellness expert. For Authority Magazine, I wanted to share my 5 things that you can do to cultivate total and optimal wellness, starting with number 1, which is to get at least the 30 minutes of movement every day. Try to pick activities that are motivating and exciting for you, whether that be biking, hiking, swimming, walking, dancing, taking a boot camp Pilates or yoga class, or some other activity. Make sure to factor it into your busy schedule, both during the week and on the weekends, and block that time in your calendar so you can get that movement in every day. Number 2, focus on your nutrition by eating plant-based foods, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, getting healthy fats as well as lean proteins. What you eat and what you fuel your body with can really have a huge impact on your overall wellness. Number 3, focus on managing stress and practicing mindfulness in a way that works for you, whether that means taking a few minutes of deep breathing every day, practicing meditation, taking a yoga class, getting out in nature, listening to music or some other activity. This will really help to calm and center your mind and keep you balanced. Number 4, try to get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night for optimal cognitive functioning, for good memory, and overall good health. It is so important and oftentimes very underestimated and is really the foundation of creating optimal wellness. And finally, number 5, try to create whatever form of work-life balance works for you. It's going to be different for everyone, but if you can focus on productivity tools to make sure that you are excelling in your career and at work, but also leaving time to to enjoy your personal and home life, that's really going to help you to manage stress, create that level of balance in your life, and really allow your personal and professional life to coexist with one another in a healthy way. So be sure to set boundaries and communicate effectively so that you can be successful in both aspects of your life. I hope that these tips are helpful.
