The scale doesn't tell the whole story. Water retention, hormones, and muscle gain can all move the number without changing your actual body composition. Use it as one data point among many, not the only measure of progress.

Hi guys, I hope you're having a great week and gearing up for the Fourth of July holiday this week and weekend. I wanted to hop on to really quickly talk about the scale. In working with thousands of clients over the last 10 years, I've definitely seen a lot of people develop an unhealthy relationship with the scale. However, I wanted to help change people's mindsets about looking at the data as more of a health metric rather than honing too much in on weight. And the reason for that is because the scale does not always tell the whole story, whether it's your sodium levels that are causing water retention hormonal changes that are causing bloating and weight gain, or even from weight training and gaining more muscle mass. Muscle weighs more than fat, even though it's more dense than fat, so that could affect the scale as well. So I want to encourage you to look at that information and determine what types of changes you might want to make, but don't get so caught up on the weight part of it because again, it doesn't tell the whole story.
