Some of the most common New Year's resolutions are to eat healthier and get fit. Always keeping health and wellness top of mind, we sit down with our favorite health and wellness expert to get her tips to stay on track. This segment is sponsored by PassionFit. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year, Ashley.
I am so excited to talk to you today because we're going to talk about New Year, New You. Every year I think we all set some goals, but you're actually going to help us achieve achieve them in our wellness journey and help us evolve?
Absolutely. I think a lot of people have mixed feelings when it comes to New Year's resolutions, and the number of people, according to Pew Research, actually declines that make resolutions as they get older. So the thing is, we all need to evolve and grow, so let's look at it not necessarily from a New Year's resolution standpoint, but just ways to grow as people. So the first way is to really advocate for our own health. The more we can be proactive, partner with our healthcare providers, make sure we're tracking our health data on wearable devices, um, looking at our blood work and making sure we do our annual checkups. That's just going to help us, um, and it's something that we all at any age or stage of life should be thinking about.
And in addition to advocating for our own health, it's really important to be aware of education and really be curious.
Yeah, be curious not only about our health but just anything in our personal or professional life. So I think education and learning is a lifelong process, So whether you want to go back to school in the new year or, you know, pursue a new license or certification, or maybe it's just listening to podcasts or reading articles or books, I think it's important to think about what skills you want to gain both personally and professionally, make a plan, and then go for it because you honestly don't know where your new skills and knowledge could lead you.
Now, your company is called PassionFit, so you know a thing or two about the importance of having passion, and when it comes to growing and evolving, Pursuing passion is important.
Yeah, I really do think that pursuing passions is a part of our health, which is why it's such a big part of my company motto and logo. And I think, you know, at different stages we may not have as much time to pursue passions, but if you can find those little pockets of time, whether it's to, you know, dance or paint or design or get involved in group activities or sports that you like with your loved ones, it's just gonna help light you up and create excitement and just make you feel more fulfilled and whole. So wherever you can, just fit in those little passions. Maybe they're side projects. Or side hustles.
All right, what else can we do to really make sure we continue to evolve as we grow?
Yeah, this is a fun one. You know, we should cultivate adventure and new experiences in our lives as well. Hopefully that's a New Year's resolution or goal that people would be more motivated to do, whether it's going to concerts or comedy shows or amusement parks or, you know, trying new restaurants or trying a new recipe. If we can just expand ourselves, get out of our comfort zones, that's also going to help us to grow and evolve in the new year, and hopefully we'll have some fun while doing it.
And these are also things that we can do with our families. Another thing that stands out in my mind when I think about previous conversations, just doing things together, like you say, finding adventure with your kids.
Absolutely. Then you're creating lasting memories with your kids. You're trying something new. I know I am personally afraid of roller coaster rides, and so when we go to Disney or other places, my boys are holding my hand because they're very adventurous, as is my husband. So, you know, it helps you to grow and it helps your kids to have those fun memories with you as well.
And you're a great inspiration and example of growth. You finished your second book a few months ago. You know, we celebrated your book launch on this show. How is it going? Are people loving it?
I've been getting— thank you for asking— I've been getting great feedback. People have really been telling me that it's helping them in their lives, and we're doing a virtual book tour starting in 2025, so that's really exciting. It's in one of the Barnes Noble here in San Diego on Carmel Mountain Road if anyone wants to check it out. So it's been really fun, and I really think it's going to just lead to more opportunities to help people and help them really look at their own life and authentic selves at different stages. So I'm really honored and grateful that the book is being received so well, and I look forward to helping more people through it.
Well, we are so excited to see you continue to grow, and I think you're, you know, you're a regular on the show now, so a lot of people probably know how to stay in touch with you, but for those maybe just discovering our show, what's the best way to stay in touch?
Yeah, the best way is just to come to the website, passionfit.com. That's where you can link to social media, to information about the book, any of our coaching and speaking and other products and services that we offer. And we would love to help anybody in 2025 that's really looking to change and transform their life in a positive way.
