In this YouTube video, Reena Vokoun, founder and CEO of PassionFit, introduces the eighth installment of her family‑focused fitness series. She introduces her family members – her 13‑year‑old son, 10‑year‑old son, and husband Matt – highlighting their sports backgrounds and Matt’s role in demonstrating exercise modifications due to a knee injury. Reena explains the motivation behind the series: to help families stay active during the pandemic, bond together, and provide conditioning for youth athletes without any equipment beyond a mat. She emphasizes safety, encouraging viewers to hydrate, consult a doctor if needed, and follow Matt’s modification cues. The video then transitions into a guided warm‑up led by an instructor, featuring deep breathing, lunges, side‑to‑side stretches, jogging in place, high‑knees, and hamstring stretches, with repeated cues on core engagement, knee alignment, and posture. The segment ends with a completion cue, promising the next workout block.

Hi, my name is Reena Vokoun and I'm the founder and CEO of PassionFit, and I'm so thrilled to be bringing you our 8th video series for YouTube. Be sure to subscribe subscribe so you can keep up to date on our latest wellness and workout videos launching on a regular basis. Today we're going to be doing a family fitness workout, and speaking of which, I'd like to introduce you to mine, starting with my older son. Do you want to tell everyone your age and what you do for sports and fitness?
Hi, I'm 13 years old, I'm in 8th grade, and I play competitive soccer and basketball.
And I'd also like to introduce you to my younger son. Do you want to tell everyone about yourself?
Hi, I'm 10 years old, and I'm in 4th grade, and I play competitive soccer and basketball.
And then I'd also like to introduce you to my husband. What do you do for sports and fitness?
Hi everyone, for working out, I love to do HIIT classes, ride my Peloton, and then ride my road bike and mountain bike outside.
And I also teach HIIT and strength training as well as yoga, Pilates, and dance classes. So because we are all active in fitness and sports, it's definitely been challenging for us and probably all of you over the course of this last year in the pandemic to be active and to be able to work out at the gym. So we wanted to bring you this workout video series so you could bond with your family and also stay active. And if you have kids who are playing sports like ours, this is a great conditioning workout for them. So you don't need any equipment, just an exercise mat and your own body weight. Also make sure to have water so you can hydrate. And if you need to modify, feel free to look at Matt. My husband actually injured his knee, so he's gonna be doing the modifications for us for today. And if you or anyone in your family has any injuries or health concerns, just be sure to check with your doctor before doing this workout video. With that, are you guys ready to get started?
Yeah!
Alright, let's do it.
1, 2, 3, ho'okoa!
All right, we are going to begin our warm-up. So we're going to start with a big deep breath.
Inhale, bend your knees, and exhale, bend your knees.
Come on up again. Big deep breath and exhale. Let's do a few more. Big deep breath up, exhale. And again, let's do 2 more. All the way up, stretch, lift your torso tall. And now we're going to go into a lunge. So you clasp your hands together and we're going to start to the right and left. So I want you to tuck in your core. Make sure that your knees are staying behind your toes. You're pointing your bottom back, and we're just starting to warm up our lower body. Make sure to tuck in your core and start to feel a stretch in your inner thighs, in your hips, in your hamstrings. So it's very important to warm up, especially for kids before they play sports. Let's do 4 more. 3, keep it up. 2, good job, you guys. One more. And now we're gonna pivot. So you wanna pivot and bend your knees, tuck in your core. Your hands are at chest level.
Good job.
Side to side. Good, really get that stretch in the lower body. And let's do 4 more. Good job. 3, keep it up for 2. Drop that lower knee. One more. And then we're gonna go into some jogs. So start to pick up your feet. I want you to relax your shoulders. Keep them down and away from your ears.
Good.
Relax your arms. And we're slowly starting to get the heart rate up. So this is where we start to get our cardio going. You wanna start to really feel some heat in your body. And let's do 8. 7, 6, 5, 4, 3. And let's go into some high knees. So hands out and tuck in your core. Bring those knees to your chest. Stand nice and tall. Good job. Try to find your balance. And let's do 8 more. 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2. And now bring your feet down facing forward. You're going to reach down, bend your knees and reach up. So I want you to stretch those hamstrings a little bit more, elongate your torso and spine.
Good.
And let's do 4 more. 3, keep it up, watch your knees. 1 more. And big deep breath in. From the top, exhale down.
1 more.
And deep breath. All right, great job everyone. That completes our warm-up, so stay tuned for block number 1.
