In this video, Reena Vokoun, founder of PassionFit, explains the difference between healthy fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated) and unhealthy fats (trans and saturated). She outlines how healthy fats can lower cholesterol and reduce heart disease risk, while unhealthy fats have the opposite effect. Reena then provides practical examples of healthy fat sources commonly found in a Mediterranean diet, including avocado, extra‑virgin olive oil, dark chocolate with high cacao content, eggs, and various nuts such as almonds, walnuts, pistachios, and cashews. She highlights the additional nutrients these foods supply—omega‑3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and protein—and offers simple usage ideas (e.g., salads, guacamole, cooking, breakfast). The video concludes with a standard YouTube call‑to‑action encouraging viewers to subscribe, like, comment, and share.

Hi guys, my name is Reena Vokoun and I'm the founder of PassionFit. Today I wanted to talk to you guys a little bit about nutrition, and in particular we're going to cover what makes up healthy fats. Healthy fats are also known as monosaturated and polyunsaturated polyunsaturated fats, and they are opposed to trans fats and saturated fats. The healthy fats help reduce your cholesterol as well as your risk of heart disease, whereas the unhealthy fats do the opposite. They increase your cholesterol and they increase your chances of heart disease. So you really wanna make sure that you're eating the healthy fats that are often included in a Mediterranean diet. So some examples of healthy fats are fresh avocado. These can be purchased as organic. And they are great to add to salads or to eat standalone with a little salt and pepper on top. They can also be used to make guacamole. A great oil to cook with is olive oil. Extra virgin olive oil is actually the most pure and has fewer chemicals and is the most whole in terms of the olives that are used to make the oil. You can also include dark chocolates that are high in cacao levels that provide you with healthy antioxidants and healthy fats. Eggs are great to include in your breakfast or in a sandwich. You can eat them poached, you can hard-boil them, you can make omelets, or you can scramble them. Lots of great things to do with eggs. And then different types of nuts provide you with protein and again those healthy fats. Some of the healthiest nuts are almonds as well as walnuts. Pistachios and cashews are great options as well. So you can do a lot with these different types of healthy fats, and they're going to provide you with omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants and proteins and again all of the good fats. Thanks so much for tuning in and feel free to subscribe to my YouTube channel and like, comment, or share these videos with your friends and family. I'll see you soon and I hope you guys have a great day.
