Hi guys, my name is Reena Vokoun and I'm the founder of PassionFit. Today I wanted to talk to you guys about work-life balance and give you some tips on some stretches you can do at your desk during your workday. Oftentimes when we're sitting behind a computer all day, we can get different ailments like carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back pain, neck pain, and much more. So here are a few things that you can do to really break up the workday and stretch your body out. So we'll start with things to help with carpal tunnel syndrome. You're gonna point your fingers up towards the ceiling and bring your arms out in front of you and hold in this position for a few seconds. Then you're gonna switch to the other hand and do the exact same thing. From here, we're going to bring our fingertips down towards the ground, so point them down and really stretch out your hands, which will in essence get your forearms. And then you're going to lift your arms up and down towards the ceiling and towards the floor. Some other exercises you can do are shoulder rolls back. Oftentimes when we're hunched behind a computer all day, we tend to lose our posture, and you can start to feel pain in your shoulders and your upper back. So rotating your shoulders in this way can really help correct that situation. When you get strain in your neck, it's really important to turn your head from side to side and hold your head and then switch to the other side. So you're really getting a nice stretch in the neck area. Another exercise you can do for your back and spine is do a twist in your chair where you turn over each shoulder. Make sure you're tucking in your core as you do this. And then you take it over to the other side. So this really gets the core area, the waistline, and the lower back. You can also lift your arms up over your head, get a nice tall, strong posture, and then bring your arms out in front of you, pointing your palms outward, and then tucking in your core, stretch your lower back forward. And then from here, you can actually reach all the way down towards the ground, again continuing to tuck in your core to protect your back. But then you're stretching that lower back area while you're even still seated in your chair. So these are just a few exercises that you can do. Again, it's really important to get the blood flowing in your body, take some breaks from sitting in the same sedentary position, and also clear your mind and get your body moving again.
