Short FAQ video by Richard Schreiber (the "Software Whisperer") answering how long software development will take. He advocates Agile development: building software modularly, prioritizing highest-value features first, and using short delivery cycles ("every couple of weeks") so clients can review progress, redirect work, and better control cost and predictability.

Hi, Richard Shriver here again, the Software Whisperer and today we're going to continue our conversation about how long it's going to take to develop your software project. And last time we said let's take a look at Agile which develops the software in more modular ways but it also develops the most valuable aspects of the software first and it constantly allows you, the creative, the client to every couple of weeks based on the delivery cycle of and development cycle of the software. It allows you to see what's been developed and see hands on whether or not it's basically accomplishing what you envision the software to do or not. And if it doesn't then you can tell the development team to kind of retrench and go back and take another look at it. Agile software development can be much more it can be much more predictable and that way it's also easier to manage from a cost perspective.
