Lina, a trafficking survivor, credits her husband's kindness and stability with helping her heal. Marrying a pastor's son showed her what respectful behavior and active listening looked like, giving her a model for raising their children differently than she was raised.

And I married a pastor's son, and I too, like, thought it was kind of— God loves the humor, but He loves that providence. He already planned this for me, and this— I told you a little bit about him, Richard R Ramos, beforehand, because when I was stressed out and losing my marbles, I saw my husband being kind, stable, and I have that example, and that's what trigger me to think, hold on one second, how this person can be like that? That means it's possible. If he can do it, I can do it. And I literally learn how to behave and speak and actually listen, even think about some of the matters by listening him. Disciplining our children. So I was learning from him as well. So, and sometimes you're gonna think, oh, I didn't have this role model as a parent, or I didn't get that husband as a role model.
