Richard R. Ramos estimates third-graders get about two hours of actual learning time per school day, and says it's probably even less now because of classroom management and behavior issues. The gap between time spent in school and time spent actually learning is much wider than most people think.
or there's— you know what's funny is that when you're homeschooling, you got to consider how much time they're actually learning in school. So, Richard, the question to you is, how many hours do you think 3rd graders are actively learning on a daily basis?
The only reason I would have a clue on that— I mean, all my kids are raised, they're all adults, I have grandkids that are older, but I do have one. I'm trying to think right now. I have one granddaughter who's 7 now, and yeah, my other— the other ones are older. And then I have great-grandchildren that are 2 little babies. I would say, uh, a couple hours.
You're right, you're right, absolutely. 2 hours. So 2 hours in 3rd grade is their active learning time. And I would even say in today's Classroom, it might even be less than that. So, because today's, we're doing a lot of different things and a lot of classroom management is happening, a lot of behavioral classroom management things.
