When moving your LLC to another state, you can foreign qualify it in the new state while keeping your original, domesticate it if both states allow it, or dissolve and form a new one. Foreign qualification lets you keep your EIN and credit history but costs fees in two states.

If you have an LLC and you plan on moving to another state, or you already did move to another state, then here are your options. The first is to do something called foreign qualification, which is basically registering your original LLC in your new state as a foreign entity. This method does result in you having to pay fees in both states and getting a registered agent in your original state, but it avoids you having to get a new EIN number, a new bank account, and potentially lose your previous business credit. The other option is to do something called domestication, which is basically moving the LLC from the original state over to your new state. But this is only possible if both the original state and your new state allow domestication. If both states don't allow domestication, then you're going to have to go with the first method of foreign qualification, or you're going to have to dissolve the original LLC and just form a new one in the state that you live in.
