Before filing your LLC or corporation, search your state's Secretary of State database to check if the name is taken, then search the USPTO database for trademark conflicts. State approval doesn't guarantee trademark availability. Also check if a domain name is available, though it doesn't need to match exactly.

Make sure to watch this video before picking a name for your business. When thinking of a name for your business and registering an LLC, you'll want to go through these 3 steps. First, you'll want to make sure that there's nobody else in your state operating an LLC under the same name that you desire to have. You'll do this by checking your Secretary of State website, entering in your desired name, and seeing if there are any identical LLC names that show up. But keep in mind that the state might reject names that are confusingly similar to yours, so you'll want to check different spellings and variations of the name. Second, you'll want to check the USPTO website to check if you would be infringing on anybody's trademark by using that name. It's important to note that just because the state accepts the LLC does not mean that you are not potentially infringing on somebody's trademark. The state makes it very clear that just because they approve the name doesn't mean that it's available on a trademark level. And lastly, you'll want to check to make sure that you have a desired domain name for the LLC, but keep in mind that your website domain name does not have to match the LLC name exactly.
