Do you need a trademark if you already have an LLC? As I'm sure you know, registering an LLC is a great way to provide yourself with personal liability protection and essentially separates you from your business. But it's important to note that an LLC does not really protect your brand name, your logo, or your slogan. Yes, nobody else in the state that you registered your LLC in can have the same name as yours, but anybody else in another state can register an LLC using the same name as yours. The only way to really prevent comp— competitors or copycats from using your brand's name and selling a similar product or service is to get a trademark.
