An LLC's legal name doesn't have to match its brand. You can register a generic name like "123 LLC" and operate under multiple DBAs (Doing Business As names), letting one company run a clothing line and a makeup line with separate identities. You just file a DBA registration for each trade name you want.

Did you know that your LLC name does not really matter that much? When registering an LLC, you obviously have to give the LLC a name, but in reality, you don't really have to run your business using that name. So basically, you can name your LLC something boring like 123 LLC, and then you can get a DBA for the LLC's name and go by the name of the DBA. Oftentimes, small businesses will do this if they have got a bunch of different categories within their business. For example, selling clothing and then selling a makeup line. Both the clothing line and the makeup line would still be owned and run underneath the LLC, but they would each have their own unique name. As mentioned earlier, in order to do this, you'll have to get a DBA for each name that you'd like your LLC to go by. DBA stands for Doing Business As and is also sometimes referred to as a fictitious business name.
