Writing off car, utilities, etc. is possible with an LLC but…

If you don't have a business or you don't plan on starting a business, then you should not register an LLC. I've recently been getting quite a few calls from people that have no business plan, but they still want to register an LLC. I have a feeling that the reason they want to do this is so that they can write off various personal expenses such as their car payments, their car expenses, or their house's utilities. But this is just not how it works and is likely tax fraud. Of course, it's true that if you have an actual business then you could write off certain business expenses, potentially your car and potentially some of the utilities. But if your LLC is simply just a shell and you're just registering it so that you can get various tax write-offs, then that is probably something that is going to get you in a lot of trouble. The IRS is not that naive or stupid to just let people simply register an LLC so they can get various tax write-offs. So basically, you should only register an LLC if you actually plan on trying to grow a business that generates revenue.
