Certain mold compounds mimic estrogen and disrupt hormones. One compound called Zelaron acts like estrogen in the body. Clinicians should test for these estrogen mimickers before prescribing hormone replacement therapy.
And the one thing with mold, especially thinking about hormones, is we do find people who have high levels of Zelaron with a Z. And the zelon mimics estrogen. And when we're thinking about hormone replacement, we really want to make sure there's no estrogen mimickers that could be exactly exacerbating any kind of symptoms. And we're giving somebody estrogen who already has a high estrogen potential.
