Short conversational transcript (YouTube #shorts) in which Robert Whitfield MD explains that patients have multiple breast surgery options beyond simply replacing implants — including removal, removal with lift, and fat transfer — and expresses a desire for broader public understanding to enable better decision-making. The clip advocates informed discussion of alternatives to implant replacement.
Was explaining to this patient like there's a lot of other options here besides she had been told she needs to get another implant. I said, no, that's not exactly true.
Correct.
You could have them removed. You could have a removal on the left. You could have a removal lift of fat transfer. There's all sorts of permutations of. Of breast surgery that we do now that I just don't feel like it's really well understood. I hope it becomes more and more the norm that that's an easy discussion or people have watched or learned enough from what we're trying to share that they can make a better decision.
Yes, I know. I also have not shared that I had a fat transfer with you guys. And looking back, I feel like I wish I would have done it just all at once. One thing, just get it over with. But I was also that stage of my life where my daughter was a baby, and I was like, should I? Shouldn't I? But now I feel someone would ask me. I feel like I would have just done it at the same time, because my recovery, even with the fat transfer, was just a walk in the park, easy peasy.
