Short clip from a YouTube video by Robert Whitfield MD where an unidentified speaker asks whether breast implants can affect weight loss; Dr. Whitfield affirms they can. The conversation will likely cover mechanisms or examples in later chunks (e.g., inflammation, fluid retention).
Can breast implants affect your ability to lose weight at all?
Oh, yeah, sure.
Explain that.
If someone has chronic inflammation, we'll just say they're in a cycle where they're going to retain fluid. And whether that's from, you know, more cortisol production or just having a chronic inflammatory process ongoing in the body and getting signaling, like we said before, from the interaction between the implant and your tissues. There's a new paper out that describes something called Oxylipin 10 Home, where there's this interaction between your body and the biofilm and it creates more fatigue. But these are just now coming to light. We don't know all the different things that are going on, but I see people who will gain 10, 20, 30 pounds, not because of an adjustment in diet, but they're just retaining mostly fluid. And when you see them in person, examine them, they're very puffy, very swollen. Everybody should understand when I explant somebody, it's not all rainbows and unicorns.
