Dr. Robert Whitfield explores chemicals used on golf courses and how they accumulate in golfers, workers, and nearby residents. He'll examine how these exposures affect surgical outcomes and present a recovery method called SHARP in upcoming parts.

Tonight is part 1 of our series. We are calling it The Hidden Toxic Burden. We are going to look at exactly what is on the golf course and more importantly, what is ending up potentially in your body. So once again, I've, I've said I've had patients who lived on golf courses and then recently a patient of ours who played golf their entire life and worked on golf courses brought this more to my attention. So tomorrow in part 2, we'll cover how this chemical exposure directly affects surgical outcomes from the fairway to the operating room. And on Thursday in part 3, I will walk you through the SHARP method, our specific approach to recovery engineering for patients with toxicity burdens. But tonight we have to establish a baseline. We have to look at the data. We have to break it down to really break down the illusion of golf and its relationship, if you will, um, to maybe what's bringing toxicity to us.
