A short YouTube video transcript excerpt of a conversation between patient Tiffany and Robert Whitfield MD about a surgery that unexpectedly revealed cancer. Tiffany describes panic on hearing the pathology diagnosis (carcinoma lymphoma) and credits the plastic surgeon for sending tissue to pathology — an act she and her treating team say likely saved her life.
I panicked, of course, because the pathology was not a pretty. Of course, the word carcinoma lymphoma scares the shit out of me.
Right.
So I immediately. You.
But had it not been sent, you would never know.
And again, I've said this multiple times on a call, oncologist and a radiologist saying that plastic surgeon saved your life, Tiffany, because it would have been too late before we have. If it would have come to fruition, if it would have. I mean, for. For taking the capsule and not. I mean, if you wouldn't have sent it to the pathologist like you said, we wouldn't have known that there was cancer cells there.
Well, there's something very specific about yours and there's a picture of it in your chart that will always forever be burnt in my head. Because it's not just taking out your capsule, because anybody, obviously, who wants to do, you know, a capsulectomy or an unblocked resection can do that. But yours had this little unicorn of tissue sticking off of it and was very firm. So that is what stopped me kind of from just cleaving that, if you will, and taking it off because it wasn't normal.
