Dr. Robert Whitfield explains the medical risks of implants, including infections and the need for repeat surgeries. He discusses how social media shapes body image and the choices people face when considering these procedures.
They'Re getting worse. Yeah, yeah. Social media has not helped this. Filters have not helped this. The scrutiny has not helped this. So they get into this, like, I gotta have this change. How can I make this change? I'm skinny. You know, I don't. I've heard about a fat transfer, but I can't have one because the doctor. I don't have any fat. I'm too small. Okay, so that puts you in more of the implant situation, but you, you know. Okay, so that becomes a choice based on a number of factors and an informed decision-making process. And you should know that implants can get infected. You should know that potentially you can have problems down the road, need other surgery earlier, later, whatever, and it could become a chronic inflammatory situation like I deal with with the patients we're talking about.
