Whitfield acknowledges that his medical team is supportive but not trained in mental health, notes plans to add resources, and encourages self-work and seeking support; the other speaker shares fears about appearance and acceptance after surgery.
My team and I, you know we try to just be as supportive as possible but we're not, you know mental health folks and we don't have that background. So we hope to have some more resources added soon. But that's a as you would imagine more complicated discussion. So I encourage everybody, you know to do more and more self work and seek out resources certainly if they're experiencing any kind of mental health crisis or anything like that before or after surgery because that's a very serious matter. We we don't want anybody.
Experiencing that and we're not that's not something that I'm trained into to help with.
Yeah, I love that you recognize it and speak to it because it is real. I was so afraid of what I was going to look like after surgery. I was so afraid like gosh who could love me? Even though I knew that wasn't really the case I was just I think afraid.
