Dr. Robert Whitfield explains why normal lab results don't mean you're healthy. Standard tests miss past infections, mold exposure, gut dysbiosis, and hormonal problems. Your fatigue is real; clinicians just aren't asking the right questions.

Your labs came back normal. You still feel terrible, and someone told you that you're probably fine. I hear this several times a week from my patients. A normal panel means the things you tested for came back within a range. It's a reference range, that's all. It does not mean your doctor tested for the right things. So the first thing I do is relatively boring. It's actually where most of the answers are. I go through your whole history, not just the last 6 months. Any old infections, exposures like mold, gut issues, hormones, and everything you've already Then we look at how well your body is clearing those things out. That part almost never shows up on a standard panel, and your doctor, who should be asking for those things, usually never does. So all that exhaustion and pain you're feeling, you are not making any of it up. You haven't been asked the right questions yet.
