Protect Your Family From Toxicity

Dr. Robert Whitfield discusses identifying and reducing toxic burden, especially for people with breast implant illness. He explains how genetics affect detox capacity, describes comprehensive testing for heavy metals and mycotoxins, and presents the SHARP program combining supplements, sleep, nutrition, and therapies like hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage.

Hi, Daniel. Going live here, just a few moments. Hello everybody, hop on. I'm not gonna delay too much. We're experiencing a fair amount of weather in Austin right now and it's been a very, very long day. To miss anything, the replay will be up in drrobscircle.com. You can go there, join for free. You can also access it through my website, drrobertwhitfieldmd.com. I also have a private, um, Facebook group, and then I post in, um, the Breast Implant Illness Research Group. I reached out actually to another group today who's interested in breast implant illness and breast cancer, so we'll be looking into supporting them as well. Okay. I know it's late for most folks on the East Coast. It's 8:00 PM. It's only 5:00 on the West Coast, but 7:00 PM in Austin, and it's been a busy, long day, so we're gonna get started. This is the third of my lives this week and just really want to frame this as how to protect your family from toxicity. And I think most of you are here tonight. You may be tired of what you've been told about things not improving even though you're doing all the right things. You're tired of buying organic foods, you're trying to filter water. You're tired of taking supplements and still watching your family struggle with, and yourself with, either brain fog, fatigue, skin conditions, allergies, problems with eating, having sensitivities to things you eat, chronic inflammation. And you go to the doctor and they run the routine blood panels. And now there's more and more companies doing this and there's Function and there's Rhythm and there's all sorts of other companies trying to add biomarkers to give more bandwidth to this. But typically the panels come back and they're normal. And then in some functional medicine environments, the normals are not good enough, so they're trying to elevate those to get you in better ranges. But overall, everything appears to be fine. But I think that's really where the problem is. So like, for full stop, I don't sit and look at blood work. When I take care of patients. I listen for problems with detoxification. I look for things that are causing chronic inflammation. So I'm Dr. Robert Whitfield MD, I'm a board-certified plastic surgeon, and I really am focused on surgical preparation and recovery as it pertains to our explant surgery population, anybody undergoing fat transfers, anybody undergoing let's just say cosmetic procedures in general, because I no longer do insurance care. And so we've developed recovery protocols and preparation protocols based on this over the last several years. And after we had thousands of patients who came in with overwhelming amounts of chronic inflammation, and many times, um, they were either too ill, too unwell to get started, or couldn't get here soon enough. So what we've learned is that through more advanced testing, like genetic testing, like toxicity burden testing, like gut health testing, like food sensitivities, like hormone balance testing, we can better evaluate the overall burden that your body is having difficulty processing. And tonight we're going to go a little bit deeper, stop guessing. We're going to go talk about how to actually measure your family's toxic burden and more importantly, the clinical protocols to clear it. So we have to get one thing, uh, like clear when we say toxic burden. We are not talking about generic marketing-driven detox you see on platform. I'm not talking about juice cleanses, um, baths. I'm not talking about the sauna. I'm talking about measurable physiologically found accumulation of toxins in your system. You're broad. You just think of like how broad that is. Like if your body stores all these things, how do we measure them? How do we deal with what's processed by the body all the time, day over day, week over year? I'm sorry, week over week, month over month, year over year. Every day it filters out, tries to filter out heavy metals, mycotoxins, PFAS, other environmental chemicals. So genetically, some of us are much, much more efficient at doing this, if that makes sense, right? Obviously, you can't pick your parents and you cannot run a bad diet. You know, where we come from, you know, our genetic inheritance, the air we breathe growing up, where we live, what we got exposed to, all play roles. And then as we go through our lives, we accumulate more and more toxicity. But once I said, once again, those who genetically detox better have more resilience, more bandwidth to this. So people with MTHFR, like I have it, are going to have a little bit tougher time. About 36% of the population has problem with methylation, famously known as, uh, your MTHFR gene mutation, when your exposure exceeds your genetic ability to clear it, you don't get quote unquote sick overnight. It's an accumulation, right? The expressions are the bucket's full, so it starts to overflow. And that's what toxic burden is, is cumulative weight of environmental exposure that either your liver, your lymphatic system, your gut, Your kidneys can no longer cope with it. And here is why this matters to your family. Toxins do not accumulate the same way in adults as they do in children. And so children are just not small adults, so you can't treat them the same. Their physiology is very, very different. Children drink more, eat more, um, they have more rapid breathing, so they're, they're consuming more oxygen per pound of body weight than we do. Their metabolic rates are higher, and because of this, their exposure to environmental, environmental toxins like PFAS and heavy metals is disproportionately higher compared to ours. They bioaccumulate faster, and their developing neurologic and immune systems are far more sensitive to all these different inflammatory, uh, triggers. So when I hear patients tell me how they're doing I always hear about they have children, and if in fact they have children, I'm curious because one of them will usually have very similar detox to— in this case, I see moms a lot, and invariably one of the children does, has more problems with allergies, has more problems with illness, has more problems with colds, misses more school, is tired more, cranky more. Doesn't sleep well, all the things. So like I said, I see women routinely who've had implants for long periods of time. We know that that creates a chronic inflammatory process, but what pushes their immune system over the edge, what causes severe symptoms in many cases, is the compounded burden of all the other things that I found in my almost 10 years of taking care of this problem. So I know the genetics of this problem. And I have the most toxicity burden testing of patients with breast implants in the world by far. And, um, in the last 500 we reviewed, the top thing that was found in a toxicity report, um, was BPA— comes from plastic. The next thing was glyphosate, which is what's sprayed on your food supply. And the third thing was a mycotoxin. So You know, all the patients I'm dealing with have implants. Yes. Um, but where do they get like the mycotoxin exposure? And then usually I'm always worried about someone's home or where they grew up or where they lived during maybe their early years, maybe college, a dorm, apartment. Um, and that's usually like a place for, or an opportunity for high exposure if you want to think of it like that. Or, you know, heavy metal accumulation. Contamination is something that can happen. Groundwater is particularly bad. So if you also have, you know, the, um, combination of factors, right, environmental toxins like they said, uh, heavy metals, mycotoxins, and say I just do a case, I take the implants home, send them— take the implants out and send them home. I don't feel and haven't seen them recover as fully. And I had just did a podcast yesterday with a great patient of mine, Sarah. And if you go to my show, the Dr. Robert Whitfield MD Show, on Apple and Spotify, pull it up. It's an excellent example. She tells everything very simply, lays it out perfectly. It takes almost a year in some instances for people to even remotely get healed up. And if they have complicated gut issues, my practitioners like Chelsea and Gina and Melinda work diligently with them beyond a year. In fact, we, we don't just release people at a year if they need help. We, uh, create programs and, and work with them longer. So we don't want to leave anybody stranded. We always want to help guide them in the best possible way to help them get their body back, their energy back, their wellness back. So we're looking hard at data always. We're looking at the compounds that are blocking, like I said, what's driving your cellular energy, diminishing it and causing more systemic inflammation. You know, once we get the test results, we're very motivated to do not just homeopathic detox, but we have to be aggressive with certain things to get people prepared for surgery depending on what they're going to do. And then if it's, it's in their best interest to wait, we'll pause things and, and help them get in a better situation. So the way I think about it is if, if we don't do things in a more data-driven, focused way, we don't get as good of results because we don't have anything to look back upon to know that we improved. So I wrote the book The Sharp Method for this reason, because I had groups of patients who did well after 2-3 months, then after 6-9 months, and then they'd— some would take longer than a year. So basically I looked at it and I was like, okay, well, we already know there's some genetic issues, and then, um, we worked out the rest with the help of genetic vendors like The DNA Company and Kashif Khan. I've been on his show and he's been on mine. He's, he's been wonderful with us. We work with Vibrant Wellness, uh, on toxicity burn testing. So I, I by far have the most toxicity testing on patients with breast implants in the entire world, uh, not even close. I've been examining this problem and trying to shed more light on it since I testified at the FDA hearings in 2019. So We have the book written, we know the phases, and we want to help patients do things in an intentional and careful way so they don't make themselves feel worse. So we work on liver support, lymphatic support. We use targeted supplementation that I curated after several years of working with patients with capsules and tabs and found out that that's just a bad idea. And we switched mostly to liquids or small amounts of powders, very few capsules or tabs ever. 'cause that's just harder for patients. We get it absorbed high in the GI tract. I feel like that's the best way. I operate on supplementation. Many surgeons stop it for 2 weeks. I don't wanna stop anything. I want your genetic pathways supplemented the entire time so I know that you're getting what you need in order to detoxify. Structured recovery. Right. So we talked about prep. We do the encounter, we get your testing back, we put you on supplementation, we work on your sleep hygiene, your nutrition, your fluid intake, your exercise patterns. All those things are super important to improving your circadian rhythm, lowering blood pressure, improving HRV. All those things make sense. Like, that's just basic stuff. And if you're prepared better, you'll recover better. So all the things we do in the operating room, it's just a small window in time in the year, right? So if I operate on someone, say for instance today, for a couple of hours, that is not the encounter with my practice, my team, my, my group. The thing you have to understand is like, if you just see a patient examine them, create a surgical plan, then operate on them, and then kind of see them a week or a month later and then send them off. I don't feel like you've done them or helped them take care of themselves the best. I think in my instance where I'm dealing with people with so many problems, with so much chronic inflammation, so it can be so much accumulation over time that it's, it's literally forced them to come do something that they really don't want to do is have another surgery. It's incumbent upon us to prepare them properly, work with them the night of surgery to really lower their sympathetic activation, really set them up for success, block things that, um, can give nausea. And then the day of the operating, uh, room, I always see everybody, mark them My team does the anesthesia-guided nerve blocks for our patients, and then we operate and I do more nerve blocking. But then I bring this up because the recovery process that starts afterwards is probably the more important aspects of this because we then help lower cortisol by using the Human Regenerator at my office, getting everybody in a more parasympathetic state. And then use hyperbaric oxygen, lymphatic massage, and nanoV therapy and red light therapy. So I have all these things in the office, and I know a lot of people around the country have some options in terms of equipment or biohacking options. And I have all that consolidated on purpose because I feel like it's the best thing to do for patients and recoveries to get them on the right track. And if I have you here locally around Austin where I am at— I'm in Austin, Texas— then it's incumbent upon you to spend more time with us to get better results because we know how to get that done and to lower inflammation for you, your family, friend, loved one, mom, dad, aunt, uncle, whoever it is. I know how to do that with our program, the SHARP program. My team knows how to run it for them. And so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna hop off of the regular platforms 'cause I get censored on YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, in groups, outta groups. And you know where I don't get censored? I don't get censored in my own community, drrobcircle.com. So I want everybody to go to drrobcircle.com. You can join for free, it's absolutely no fees. I know that's crazy, but you can ask me questions. Um, that's where I refer everybody to. If you don't have time to do that, totally respect that. Go to my website, drrobertwhitfield.com. I have pages about toxicity, artificial turf toxicity, golf toxicity, toxicity general, breast implant illness diagnosis, recovery, uh, Breast Implant Association on plastic large cell lymphoma. They have links to my FDA testimony. There are 4,000 videos, 170 podcasts. I've made another 60 guest appearances. I have 3 courses, 2 books, a full supplement line. I have everything you need if in fact you want to get better. So I think it's really just, do you want to get better? Do you want to learn what's bugging you or what's affecting your family and see if we can help you? I'm confident we can. All right, I'm gonna hop off here. I think I'll take one like Instagram and one TikTok question. Here we go. Oh, hi, Elizabeth. Good to see you. I was just about to hop into my private community, but it's nice you hopped on. Appreciate you joining. If that's you, give me a wave or something. You can watch the replay in drrobcircle.com live after— I'm sorry, in the— after we're done, we'll post it in drrobcircle.com. We post everything. Um, actually, Shannon today in my group asked— we have so many videos, we've been reorganizing them and hosting them on our website. So when you go to drrobertwhitfield.com, you'll actually see my own private video channel. Everything is hosted through that now. We do not host anything through YouTube anymore. YouTube has censored me for using the term breast. It has censored me for talking about breast implant illness, explant surgery, and, um, I'm not here for that. It's just really not, not about censorship or getting blocked for talking about things. All I talk is about is educational things to help patients make better informed decisions, and I don't think you should ever block us for doing that, you're stifling creativity, so. All right, does anybody have a question, or are we just gonna hop in? All right, I'm gonna end all these ones if there's no question. Oh, I'm sorry, Intelligent Gut, processed food, sugar without fiber, gluten. All the not food we put in our body. Yes, that's all bad. 100%. The Intelligent Gut. You got to hop in the circle. That's a pretty smart move, Nicole. I would consider a fat transfer. I do low BMI fat transfers. Although I don't want to write another book, I'm going to write a book about fat transfers because I think there's a lot of disinformation, poor information, lack of experience, lack of understanding, whatever you want to call it. It absolutely is infuriating to me. All right, did you guys hear the thunder? I'm in Austin and there's a thunderstorm tonight. Ah, Kate, I'm more interested in exposure to aluminum adjuvant with detox issues. I don't know what that is. I can't read the whole question. Kate, hop into the circle and ask me that question. I don't know what it, I don't know the whole question. All right, I have one more message. Hold on a second, let me see. Oh, thank you, Nicole. All right, we'll see you there. All right, I'm hopping off and going to my circle. Take care, everybody, good night. All right, I'm now going to be live in the circle. All right, got thunderstorms going on around me and the whole nine yards, so all right, just knocking stuff off too, my desk. Okay. Let me open up and let me see what we got, what we got, what we got, what we got. All right, one of my patients is messaging me. I wonder if she was on the live. Let's see, was it Hannah on the live? Yeah, if you want to post in that group, Hannah, that'd be awesome. Thank you so much. Um, all right, so let's get me off of Facebook, who likes to censor me. Oh, so funny, cracks me up.
