A personal reflection on reclaiming self-worth beyond physical appearance. The speaker describes moving away from measuring value by youth, beauty, or body, accepting herself, and framing a medical/cosmetic decision (an explant) as symbolic of graduating from external expectations.
And if we are placing our value as women outside of ourselves, on our youth, on our beauty, on our body, then we're going to start to go, oh, I need to change. And that was a really big part of my coming home journey to myself, was recognizing, like, who I am is my value, not what I look like. And obviously, I come in a package, and I like to make the package look pretty, but I get to accept who I am. And that was really, it was almost like this huge graduation to come and do my explant with you. It's like I have graduated from being a slave to this idea of what I'm supposed to look like and playing the game, you know, that's a lot.
