A patient's thyroid function normalized four months after explant surgery, shocking her endocrinologist who said thyroid damage doesn't reverse. Dr. Robert Whitfield explains the body can heal with proper nutrition, fluids, and supplementation, with help from a nutrition specialist named Chelsea.
I had my explant in April. I saw the endocrinologist in July and my thyroid had completely reversed. She was floored. She says, "This hasn't happened." She goes, "Your thyroid doesn't fix itself." And my thyroid had fixed itself, or I guess—
But I think that's super important, right? Because that's a misconception. If you give yourself an opportunity And your body, our bodies are phenomenal at taking care of themselves. If in fact the resources that are needed either through our food or fluid or air, if we have some gap we need to be, you know, helped with, with supplementation, which we do, like your body can do some things. Like you have to like give it an opportunity. And once it has the opportunity, it can really, surprise you?
Oh, it's— well, and it's interesting, the process takes time. And then when I came back, part of also why I went to you is your follow-up. Like you said, working with Chelsea with the nutrition side and the detoxing and the getting my body back to balance, um, was one of the reasons I picked you. And that was huge. And Chelsea's fabulous. And, um, I would come see you and it was definitely a process. And there were times you could— it's like you know us so well
