Of an icon in terms of breast implant illness, explant surgery, really providing nutritional support and helping explain and broaden the discussion around breast implant illness. So I want to give Dr. Fang a very warm welcome and thank you for coming on the show.
I would take any time out to join your podcast.
You're one of the few people I can say this to because. And we'll start off with throwing some controversy out. I know you did microsurgery and you know I did microsurgery, so I'm quite happy to see microsurgery listed as part of your credentialing and part of your history. Long way of saying, like, how did you become involved in breast implant illness and explant surgery? Because that's the question I get all the time.
Yes. Do you know Bill Shashi? He was the.

Plastic surgery. Yes. So he was my mentor. And in 1990, he said, you got to go to this FDA meeting because you may find patients there that might need your help. So I went to the FDA meeting in 1990 in Fredericks, Maryland, and I was shocked because I met some of the Command Trust network. One of them said that silicone is not containable. You'd be surprised if it goes to the liver and distant organ organs. And then I met Dr. Pierre Blay, who said, you have to take out. If you're going to take out these implants, you have to take out the entire capsule.
