Robert Whitfield MD and Dr. Meg explain why standard stool tests miss parasites and how their life cycles make them harder to find. They claim parasites are more active around the full moon, so timing tests and treatments to lunar phases can improve detection and effectiveness.

I feel like we just had a patient which stimulated this discussion with, you know, Dr. Meg we're having now. But what I also make sure to, like, highlight with patients are. And I think it's a sneaky thing, Dr. Meg is parasite infections.
Yes. Mm. And it's. They're hard to find. They don't even always show up on our stool tests. So it's really tricky. They have like, I think what. What you tell people too, that grosses them out is they also have their own life cycles. So when we're looking at a parasite, they're more active, generally around the full moon. So you also have to account for activity of the parasite. They're living beings too, and so sometimes you can see them. You're more likely to see a parasite if you're testing during a full moon when they're more active. But we also will. I'll often pulse parasite cleanses to parasite treatments around phases of the moon to actually increase the effectiveness.
