The study reported about 1,500 differentially expressed genes, 873 higher and 627 lower in the contracture comparison. That sounds dramatic, but differentially expressed means RNA levels differ between groups under the study's criteria. It does not mean that 1,500 genes cause contracture, and it does not mean every patient had the same pattern. This is group-level observational research. All translated.
