So now with friends, I invite you to grab a drink, take a seat, allow me to guide you towards living a life that lives. Hey. Hey. Welcome to episode 47 of the Triple C Project. Back in December, I recorded episode 41 of the podcast, which was called the best investment you can make is in yourself, where I talked about investments, money that I've spent to invest in certain things. And one of the things I talked about was a new coaching certification that I just paid for. And that certification just started this weekend, the weekend before the Friday that you're listening to this episode. The certification has the best name ever. It's actually called the best fucking coaching course ever. And if that doesn't make you want to sign up, then I don't know what will. But just in terms of the two intensive days that I've had so far, the term mind blowing doesn't even cover it. I mean, literally, we're learning shit that rewires your neural pathways, that changes your brain. And I'm really excited to start to share some of what I've learned with clients because it's really going to accelerate progress, accelerate some of the things that they want to change, things that they want to shift and ways that they want to transform. So I'll probably be talking a bit more about some of the things that I've picked up and learned over the over the coming months. It's a three months certification, a lot of hours, a lot of work, very intense, very mind blowing, and absolutely fucking amazing and well deserving of its name. And I want to talk about something that I that came out of the the first weekend and there was so much that came out, but really the thing that's really going around in my brain because it's something which is A phrase I've heard before, and it's something that. That, when it was said, really hit me. And it's the term fuck around and find out. It was something that Simone Soul, who's one of the sort of creators of the course, said. And when she said it, it just felt like I gave this big exhale and everything felt a hell of a lot lighter. And so I'm going to riff on that saying in today's episode, because as I thought about it more, it ties into some of the things which I've said before, but it's also sending me deeper into some of the things that I've said before, which I think are going to be really helpful for you to hear in this episode. So fuck around and find out. It really. I don't know how you feel when you hear it, but I don't feel you can hear or say that thing without feeling this sense of play, this sense of mischievousness, you know, this sense of cheekiness. It really kind of gives you that it's a little bit naughty and it's a little bit like against the way that things should be done. But look, if you want to find out if you can do something, answer to the question, fuck around and find out. If you don't know if you'll enjoy doing something, why not fuck around and find out? And if you want to learn something new, a new skill, a new hobby, but you don't know where to start, just fuck around and find out. And this is my take on the phrase, because there is so much angst that can go into doing something new. You know, doing the quote unquote right thing, getting things perfect, not fucking up. We don't want to show ourselves up in front of our peers, in front of our colleagues, in front of our friends and our family. So you play it safe. And therefore, in playing it safe, you never really see what you're capable of. You never really see what you could enjoy. And you close yourself off to opportunities and that are around you, whether that's work and career opportunities, whether that's growth opportunities, whether it's just the opportunity to have some fucking fun, you know? And look, if you're out there saving lives, you probably don't want to be fucking around and finding out, you know, it's probably not the best policy. You want to know what the hell it is that you're doing and save that person's life. But majority of us, we're not out there saving lives. And even if saving lives is your job, the rest of your Life doesn't involve you saving lives, you know, and so fuck around and find out is. It's a really good phrase to live by. Because isn't that what life is really about? I mean, life is ultimately a game of fuck around and find out because no one knows what they're doing, really. Yeah, we've all got ideas of what we should quote, unquote be doing. And those ideas are often not our ideas at all. They're ideas that have been handed down to us, that have been foisted upon us. They're the way that we've been conditioned to think that this is the way that you live your life. You go to school, you get good grades, you go to university, you get good grades, you get a good job, you start at the bottom of the career ladder and you climb your way up that ladder as far as you can, obtaining more, making more, acquir more along the way. And you get the house, you get the car or two, you get the family, the nuclear family. You know, you have your couple of holidays a year and this is success, this is life. And that's the game that we're all playing. But is it? Because not everyone wants to play that game. And we're all just figuring this thing called life out as we go along. So instead of treating life as this paint by numbers, following rules that you had no part in creating just because you feel that you should, what if you treated life differently? What if you treated your life like a game, like a fun art project? What if you looked at yourself as a kid playing in a huge sandpit with a shit ton of toys? And you can do, build, create, anything. Just think about that for a minute. Hey, I'm interrupting myself to give you this short message. Now, if you're listening to this pod, you're likely looking to change your life. Here's the thing. Transformation doesn't happen by doing what you've always done. It happens when you change your thoughts about what's possible for you. My book, the Triple C Method, helps you do that by giving you the tools and strategies to stop living a life of lethargy and start living life lit, described as a transformational toolkit and the book I wish I'd had when I decided to leave corporate. The Triple C method will change how you see yourself and how you live your life. Available now as paperback, ebook and audiobook, read by yours truly. Head to iamrinespence.com book or over to your favourite bookseller to grab your copy today so you can stop living a Life of lethargy and start living life lit. Maybe you got a child in your life, your own child, a niece, a nephew, a friend, child, whatever. Think about when you watch them play. Think about how they just break rules because they actually don't know what the rules are, or they have complete disregard for them. And kids are the greatest example of fucking around and finding out, because they just try stuff and if it doesn't work, they'll try something else. When did you lose that? When did you start to feel that you couldn't just try things out? When did you feel that you had to toe the line? I wanted to leave that pause there to give you some time to really think about it, because it's a very serious question. It's a question that I ask myself as I. As I look back and I've been asking myself consistently over the last couple of years. So here's another question for you. If you treated life as a game, as a fun art project, as something to enjoy, and not as a paint by numbers, as rigid rules to be followed, if you looked at your life as something to experience as and something to enjoy, how would you do it differently? How would you show up differently? Would you have more fun? Would you seek more joy? Would you stop taking yourself so damn seriously? What would you do? How would it be different? And if the answer to any of the questions I've just asked or other questions like them is, yeah, I would, I would do this differently. I would live in this way, I would move here, I would do this job, I would have this hobby, I would dress in this way, if the answer is yes to all of that, if listening to this podcast to what I'm saying conjures up images in your mind of what you could be doing in your life, what you could be in your life, where you could be in your life, if it just makes your whole face smile and your body tingle at the thought of what it could be, of looking into the future and creating that vision, then what the hell are you doing? What the hell are you doing living it the way that you're living now? If that's not what you want, get up, get out there, fuck around and find out. Find out if you can create that vision. Find out what that vision could be. And in fucking around and finding out, you may find that beyond that, there's a whole other world which you didn't even know existed for you to explore. So this isn't a call to down tools, quit your job, and ride off into the sunset. Today, I Mean, you can do that if you want, but it's a call to effectively do what the fuck you want, fuck around and find out if you want to do something else. If you're curious about what life could be, if you want to go and try that new skill, if you want to wear something completely different to what you normally wear, if you want to go off on holiday by yourself and leave everyone else behind, whatever it is that you want to do, that may be against the norm, that may be against the condition, that may be against the way you think you should live your life, against the way that you think you should be. Do it. Why wouldn't you? Why wouldn't you be like the child you once were? Fuck around and find out. Because by fucking around and finding out, you're going to quickly see that you can ditch that life of lethargy and you'll instantly start to see what it means to live life lit. That's it for me this week. I really hope this episode acts as a. As a rallying cry, really. I want you to really just hear the passion in my voice because my mission is really just to get people living the life that they want to live, to not feel they have to do what they've always done and when, whatever that looks like for you, whether it's just doing your job and carving out the time to do the other things that you love, setting those boundaries, making sure that people know I'm not available for this, or whether it's completely burning shit down and starting again or somewhere in the middle. I really want you to get that fire inside of you and to take the steps to do it. Just to take the steps to fuck around, find out what happens. What if you do the thing, what if. Okay, that's it for me this week. I could go on about this for hours because I'm really so, so passionate about this and I hope that comes across as always. You can hit me up on Instagram @im_spence or on LinkedIn, or send me an email, hey@iamrianspence.com and tell me, what are you going to do? What are you going to fuck around with? And find out whether it's for you. I really love to hear from you. Go ahead, enjoy your day, your week, and really make this year one where you ditch that life of lethargy and start living life lit. Thanks for tuning in. But before you go, the weight of limiting beliefs is heavy. It literally weighs you down and keeps you stuck in that life of lethargy. I know. It's why I stayed in Big Law for so long, and it's why so many of my clients don't believe they can do the things that they want to do. But what causes those limiting beliefs? It's a lack of confidence. Lack of confidence in the belief that you can do the things that you want to do. And I've got something for that. It's my confidence journal. It's six journal prompts that I created that I've used to help me get from where I am to where I want to be. To help to give me the belief to do the things that seem outside of my control, outside of what I can do. If this sounds like you, you need to get your hands on the journal. Best thing about it, it's free. All you have to do is head to iamryanspence.com, hit the button for confidence journal and get your copy today. It's gonna help you start to reframe your thoughts and get you thinking about what you can do instead of focusing on what you can't do and shed that load of limiting beliefs that you don't need to be carrying. See you again next week. And until that time, stop living a life of lethargy and start living life lit.
