10-80-10 Rule for A.I.

AI out of the box is like a sophomore philosophy major: smart but overconfident. The 10-80-10 rule: you provide the first 10% of unique ideas, AI generates the middle 80%, you return for the final 10% to add quality and personality. AI amplifies human intelligence, not replaces it.

Holy crap, so dramatic. So first, there's a lot of very good reasons to get a university education as long as you don't have to go into massive debt to get it and you actually know what you're going to do with your degree once you've got it, but that's a different video for a different time. The basic idea of this post is why work so hard when AI exists? Why bother? Learning all of this stuff if AI can just do it for you? And that's completely idiotic. Out of the box, AI is a sophomore philosophy major, okay? And if you've ever known a sophomore philosophy major, what you know is they're pretty smart, but they're not as smart as they think they are, and they're arrogant as crap. AI is at its best when you work from a 10-80-10 model. So what this looks like is you, the intelligent human who may or may not have gone to college. You give AI the, that first 10% of input. This is your unique idea. This is your perspective. This is what you've seen and believe to be true. Your stories, your examples, your proof, because the world has enough AI slop in it. And the way that we don't have AI slop is we have actual human stories and perspectives. Once you've given it that, then you let AI do the 80% of the work. And this is great. This is beautiful. I love this. This is what AI is used for and it's what it's best at. But then you, again, the smart, awesome, intelligent, unique human being that you are, you need to come back and do that last 10%. This is where you do quality control. This is where you make it sound like you. This is where you plus it and do all the things that AI simply can't do because it's, wait for it, not a human. At our company, we call it AI squared because we think about it as AI, the artificial intelligence kind, multiplied by the value and originality of the original AI, actual intelligence. So yes, use AI, but stop seeing it as a replacement for humans. Start seeing it as an amplifier of human potential.
