Business owners who tell me they can't take a vacation because their team is gonna be mad about it cracks me up. No, they're not. They're not going to be upset. They're not gonna be upset for 2 reasons. Number one, they're gonna be thrilled that you're doing it because it means that they can do it. Number 2, they're gonna be glad that you're gone because it means that they can finally get some freaking work done. As business owners, when we're there, we're always throwing like new stuff at our people. They frankly are sick of us being around. They would love nothing more than for us to be gone for a little bit So that they can actually focus on the work at hand and not bring new ideas and new shiny objects. This idea that if we leave, they're going to be upset about it. Only maybe in the grossest, worst toxic culture. Usually that is an excuse that business owners tell themselves because they just want to believe that they're essential to the business.
