A brief leadership talk aimed at visionary/entrepreneurial CEOs arguing that CEOs must imagine the future and then clearly communicate that vision to their teams. The speaker emphasizes the common gap: many CEOs can envision a desired future but fail to convey it, and asserts the goal is to define the future clearly so it can be brought into the present.

I believe it's our job as visionary CEOs, as entrepreneurial CEOs, to do it. Is our job to get in our little time machines to go out into the future, to look around and survey and say, okay, what does this magical, amazing future look like to come back and to tell the rest of our team what it looks like? I don't know about you, but I'm oftentimes very good at the first part of that. I'm really good at imagining what the future will be and what the future should be. And I'm not always so great at coming back and informing my team about what I saw. And yet I have every expectation that they're going to pull it off, even though I didn't tell them what I wanted. Now, I know that's not fair. And you just heard from somebody who also knows it's not fair, but, you know, is willing to kind of go along with it. So what is the goal? What are we looking to do here? We want to clearly define the future we want to create so we can pull that future into the present.
