Short motivational/business-advice monologue by Ryan Deiss arguing that founders should not try to learn every skill as they scale. Instead, once a business is growing, leaders should outsource or hire ("buy the fish") to accelerate growth, then learn techniques later if desired.

From zero to a million. Learn to fish from 1 million to 10 million. Ask for the freaking fish. At scale, you don't always have time to get good at something. There are two types of people who learn how to fish. Rich people who have a lot of time, and poor people who frankly don't have any other option. And the same is true in business. When you have a really big successful business, guess what? You've got time to learn new things and try new stuff and to hone your skills. And when you're just getting started, you. You don't have any choice but to figure it out for yourself. But when your business is scaling, when you're growing, this is the time to just do what normal people do and go to the store and buy the frickin fish. Okay? You don't have to figure it out for yourself. You don't have to get good at it. Stop believing that. Once you've bought the fish from somebody, then you can ask them after the fact, hey, how did you catch the fish? But this game is not about learning to do everything. This game is about getting the stuff that you need to get to the next level.
