Short excerpt from a YouTube video by Ryan Deiss presenting a two‑person dialogue about work–life balance in one’s twenties. Speaker A advocates intense, work‑focused years in your 20s (work day and night, fail often), while Speaker B objects to that single‑minded advice. The clip contains informal and explicit language.
For your 20s, work day and night, do as many things, learn as much as you can, fail as often as possible. What about work life balance and your 20s? Fuck it.
I hate this.
Crap. Because that's the time to put in the hard work. Your work life balance actually comes out later.
Okay, gross. I'm just so sick of rich people telling 20 somethings that they need to make money and success the sole focus of their twenties for an entire decade. I started my first business at 19. By the time I was 28, I had a wife, I had a mortgage, I had a couple of kids and a couple more on the way. And I'm not special. There are 24 hours in a day. If you sleep for eight of them and you work for 10 of them, that still leaves you six hours a day to build real relationships, which is plenty of time. So look, find someone you love, make some babies, build a family and build a business. You have plenty of time for all of it.
