Steve Kidd argues you don't need to be a professional writer to act like one. Document what you know through e-books, posts, or audio to build credibility and stand out. No one knows your subject better than you do.
I usually say to most people, very few people that I've met are writers, but everyone needs to be an author. In other words, you need to be known and credentialed as an expert at what you do. Because let's face it, there is nobody that is better at being you than you. And so when we put, you know, in written, in ebook form, or even in audio form, who we are and what we know and what we're passionate about, you know, that's integral in doing what we do. But then it's also a validation that, that it really is more than enough.
